Amore Italian Tomato Paste Review

Recently, I wrote an article about a concern I had, regarding tomato paste in the can leaving a metal after taste. On account of this, I was searching for an alternative to the tomato paste in a can. Amore Italian Tomato Paste in a tube has now fit the bill for me. Amore Italian Tomato Paste is double concentrated so the amount you use must be factored in.

Whenever I make my Italian sauce I use tomato paste and add water to dilute it. Most Italians do prefer thick sauces because of how it can cling to the pasta. Tomato paste will achieve this result versus using tomato sauce or tomatoes.

For the past several months, every time I opened up a can of tomato paste and tasted it, prior to using it, the paste would have this after taste of tin in it. Now, not everyone in my family tastes foods like I do. This is because I have a sensitive palate due to the way I was brought up. My grandfather was an Italian chef and many of our friends were first generation Italians living in Chicago. We use to critique our food at all our meals. That’s why I became sensitive to flavors.

There is definitely a refreshing difference with Amore Tomato Paste in the tube versus a can of tomato paste because it captures the essence of fresh, ripe tomatoes. Furthermore, due to the fact it is in a tube, you can just use what you need and refrigerate the rest for a later date.

It is so much more convenient than using a can of tomato paste. Sometimes, just a little tomato paste in a beef stew or in a dip can will add that extra zing to make you appear like a gourmet chef to your guests. Think about how you can add it to a sandwich spread with some herbs to bring out a new exciting taste. However, at the same time, remember it is double concentrated so a little can go a long way.

Here are some more ideas that you can use Amore Tomato Paste in a tube for:

Put a teaspoon in a hollandaise sauce.

Use it to roast or broil lamb, chicken, or vegetables.

Add a tablespoon to a Madeira or Sherry, take that and add it to your favorite soup.

I found Amore Tomato Paste in my local grocery store which is Publix. It was in the aisle of the pastas and Italian tomato sauce in the jars. The cost for a 4.5 ounce tube is $2.95. Now, typically a 12 ounce can of tomato paste sells for around $1.29. You are paying a premium for Amore, however remember, this is double concentrated also. I prefer to use the tube, and the difference is worth the peace of mind knowing I have a cleaner tasting tomato paste.
Amore Italian Paste is a product of Italy. Now, you know that has to be good because, “That’s Amore!”
