American Idol Finale 2010 Results

American Idol Winners

The American Idol finale 2010 results looked predestined after Tuesday. Everyone was convinced the American Idol finale results would favor Crystal Bowersox, after her and Lee DeWyze made their final pitches. The way most people saw it, Bowersox locked it up by performing ‘Up To The Mountain’ while DeWyze’s mixed performance of ‘Beautiful Day’ made him even more of a longshot. For the third straight year, there was a heavy favorite going into the final night. And for the third straight year, that favorite lost, as the American Idol finale 2010 results found one more way to make critics angry at Season Nine.

To hear most pundits and followers say it, Bowersox was a lock heading into last night. It was a different story before Tuesday, as it looked like DeWyze had caught up to her before the final week. That original perception was dismissed after the final performances – but it turned out to be the right one.

After 127 minutes, the American Idol finale 2010 results finally got to the results. America seemed to ignore the previous night’s antics, as Lee DeWyze joined the list of American Idol winners. Like Kris Allen and David Cook before him, DeWyze surprised a lot of people by catching up to the season-long front runner.

But of course, the American Idol finale 2010 results were almost secondary to the rest of the show. While some people were still waiting to see who won, they saw Gen. Larry Platt, Paula Abdul, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Hall & Oates and more came by. Dane Cook even performed his act, while Bret Michaels made his first return to the stage since his brain hemorrhage.

Abdul returned for the other purpose of the American Idol finale 2010 results show. Simon Cowell finally reached his last episode, as the show now officially faces life without its biggest star. With both Cowell and Abdul now gone, and with Ellen DeGeneres ultimately panned in her first year as judge, the road may not get any easier.

Meanwhile, DeWyze and Bowersox now move on to their own post-Idol careers. DeWyze shocked many, although it seems a majority of the country wasn’t so shocked. But after the American Idol finale 2010 results, Bowersox may be better off.

Runners up tend to have more success than winners lately, and since Bowersox was favored most of the year, she may have a more lasting shelf life. However, no surprises in the American Idol finale 2010 results could make up for this season, in the eyes of many.

After the glitz fades from the American Idol finale 2010, the show has a hard offseason ahead to figure out how it will redeem itself in Season 10. But if DeWyze could overcome long odds, the show has to hope it can too.
