Epsom salts have been used for everything from gardening and cleaning to health remedies and beauty regiments. A soak in a tub with 2 cups of Epsom salts added to the water can ease muscle tension and aches, it can also help to remove toxins from your body and help you get a good night’s sleep.

They also make a great natural face mask that can be applied to damp or moist skin. If you have dry skin you can mix 1/2 of a teaspoon of Epsom salts with 1/4 cup of grated carrots and 1 1/2 teaspoons mayonnaise for a great face mask. For normal or oily skin, 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom salts can be mixed with one egg, 1/4 cup non-fat dry milk, the juice of one lemon and a tablespoon of cognac.

For sore, tired and aching feet, enjoy a nice foot soak in warm water and 1/2 cup of Epsom salts. You can soak your feet for as long as you’d like, then just rinse them and dry. The Epsom salts will even help prevent and reduce foot odor!

To clean your face at bedtime, just mix 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom salts into you cleansing cream. Gently massage it into the skin and then simply rinse with cold water. If your hair has seemed to lose all it’s volume and it’s just flat and unmanageable, try Epsom salts! Use equal parts of a good, deep conditioner and the salts and mix thoroughly. Warm the mixture in a small pan and apply it to your hair. Leave the mixture on for about 20 minutes or so and then rinse thoroughly. Not only is it a great conditioner to restore volume and body, it will also make your hair shine!

If you’d prefer to have a wonderfully scented bath salt, add some essential oils to the Epsom salts. Epsom salts have also been proven to reduce excess body fluids, so another great beauty benefit is that they will relieve swelling. It’s a great natural way to reduce the appearance of puffiness in the face and around the eyes.
