Above Ground Pool Landscaping Ideas

Above Ground Pool, Landscaping Ideas

Having an above ground pool can be great, but figuring out how to make it look great in your yard can be a real pain. Luckily there are several ways to take care of this problem that will make your yard look like a backyard paradise that everyone will envy.

Build a deck:

Even though this is by far the most expensive option, it is also the most eye catching. Contractors nowadays can create any type of deck that you want with all kinds of material to choose from. Plus, a deck not only serves a cosmetic purpose for your yard and pool, but it also gives you a place to lounge right by the pool and maybe even barbeque and entertain. Depending on the type of material you choose for your deck, it also can be pretty much maintenance free, so you won’t have much work to do keeping it up. When deciding to put up a deck you will need to keep in mind the cost, which can become quite expensive depending on the type and size of deck you want. You’ll also probably need to get a permit to build your deck and it will need to be approved by an inspector before you can use it. If you’re the type that likes to build things, then you can cut costs by building your own deck. You can go to Home Depot and get all the materials you will need to build your deck, as well as the blueprints to put it together. This will save you money in both the labor and materials departments, as contractors can charge quite a chunk of money for their labor and the materials that they generally get.

Not interested in spending so much? Here are some more great ideas that are very affordable and look great too.

Plants and Flower:

The most natural and inexpensive thing that you can do is plant a garden around your pool. If you’re good at gardening you can get a bunch of your favorite plant and flower seeds and plant them around your pool. Once they start to bloom you’ll be amazed at how beautiful it looks. If you’re not into doing your own planting you can buy pots of flowers and plants and set them up around the perimeter of your pool. Be sure to pick decorative pots that brighten up and bring out the look of your landscape. Or if you prefer not to use pots you can take the flowers or plants out of the pots and plant them directly into the ground. Remember, you will have to maintain this particular landscape, so keep that in mind if you’re opting for a low maintenance look.

Mulch:

Mulch is another beautiful way to decorate the perimeter of your pool. There are various types of mulch that you can get at any home improvement store, such as Home Depot, and it’s relatively inexpensive. You will need to buy at least three bags of it, as well as weed block to keep grass and weeds from growing up through the mulch, which can ruin the look of your landscape. This option is pretty much maintenance free, so you can spend all of your time outside enjoying your yard and pool, rather than working on them.

Garden Pebbles:

Little rocks or pebbles are another great way to spruce up your pool landscaping. Again, there are an assortment of different rocks or pebbles to choose from and they are available at any home improvement store. These can be a bit more expensive than the mulch though, so keep this in mind when considering this option, especially since you will need at least five bags. However, if you’re not worried about cost you can also go a step further and add brick around the pool to enclose the rocks. If you have children and want to make it look more kid friendly, you can buy five or six larger rocks for your kids to decorate with paint, and then place them around your pool in various spots. Not only will they look cute among all the smaller pebbles, but they’ll also add a touch of color to your pool’s landscape.
