A Wow Wow Wubbzy Birthday Party

Cake Icing, Nick Jr

If you have a preschooler who is crazy about Wow Wow Wubbzy, then when his or her birthday rolls around, chances are pretty good that you’ll be looking for some ideas for a Wubbzy themed birthday party. Here are some fun ideas to make it a special day that they will always remember.

There are lots of sources on the internet to buy Wubbzy supplies like plates, napkins and cups. Party specific sites like birthdayexpress.com and birthdayjubilee.com carry a host of supplies for almost any birthday theme imaginable-yes, even Wubbzy. Ebay can also provide some inspiration for unique items like party favors that may no longer be available anywhere else. The Nick Jr. website includes lots of printables for coloring pages and party games.

A Wubbzy birthday cake is easy to make using a batch of cupcakes, sugar cookies and yellow cake icing. Bake the sugar cookie dough in a flat pan so that it can be cut into the shapes you will need for his tail, legs, and arms. Arrange the frosted cupcakes in a 3 row by 4 column rectangle for his body. (You can increase the size of his “body” with more cupcakes if you have a larger crowd.) Then cut another cupcake in half and use each half to create his “ears” on top of his head. Use the sugar cookie to cut out his arms and legs and tail. It might be helpful to create a template on paper beforehand. Position the arms, tail and head in the appropriate places and cover with yellow frosting. Use black icing to outline his body and to make his eyes, nose and mouth. Cupcakes are so much easier for preschoolers to eat than pieces of cake. However, you could modify this so that you use a sheetcake for his body.

Pin the tail on Wubbzy is a spin on the classic pin the tail on the donkey party game. Wubbzy is pretty easy to draw on posterboard but if you need a little help, Nick Jr.’s website provides a tutorial at Nick Jr. All you have to do is draw the tail separately and cut it out. This game will provides lots of laughs for preschoolers.

Wubbzy’s favorite game is Kickity Kick Ball. So of course a game of kickball is in order for the party. Kids will love it and prizes can be provided afterwards to everyone for being “good sports”.

Another fun game is to give all the kids some blocks, tinker toys, or just a box of random kid safe items and ask them to develop an invention and name it the such-and-such 3000, just like Widget does. It will encourage them to work together and reinforce teamwork while providing fun at the same time.

One of the best Wubbzy episodes is Wubb Idol. Staging your very own karaoke contest would be easy and great fun for the kids.

Some fun party favors might be purple lollipops (because of Daizy’s “lavender lollipops” saying) or bouncing balls.

No party would be complete without music. Fortunately, there is a Wow Wow Wubbzy soundtrack available. It even has a special appearance by the Wub Girlz and includes favorites such as “Sing and Song”, “You are You”, and “That’s What Friends Are For”. Just pop it in the CD Player and the party will start hopping!

These ideas will provide a good start to your party. With a little creativity your little one will feel just like he or she is in Wuzzleburg.
