A Website Review of Spyonvegas.com

Night Life, Nightclubs

The Las Vegas night-life scene is exploding in popularity. There are now 30 nightclubs on or near Las Vegas Boulevard and more are on the way. In 2006, the Tao restaurant and nightclub grossed $55 million in sales, more than any other restaurant in the nation. Vegas nightspots are raking in hundreds of millions of dollar in revenue, and there is no end in sight. To be sure, life is good for the owners of Sin City’s wildly popular nightclubs.

And life is good for Ryan Doherty and Justin Weniger. Their company, Wendoh Media, operates the slick and sultry website Spyonvegas.com. At first blush, one might mistake it for just another adult-themed website. Voyeuristic photos and video clips of scantily-clad and buxom women are bountiful. Upon closer inspection, however, it becomes clear that Spyonvegas.com is actually a powerful marketing tool. Doherty and Weniger have hitched their wagon to the burgeoning Vegas night-life scene, and, as a result, are amassing impressive profits and a huge number of page views – upwards of 12 million a month.

Every night, Spyonvegas.com’s photographers snap hundreds of photos of club goers in the throes of wild and raucous partying. The majority of photos posted on the site are of staggeringly sexy young women in full “Girls Gone Wild” mode. Click on a club’s banner ad (the site is loaded with them) and you are led to a gallery of photos that leaves you with the impression that every nook and cranny of the club is full of the sexiest women on the planet. One can surmise that, in exchange for unlimited access to the clubs, Spyonvegas.com edits the photos in a way that casts the clubs in the most flattering (read sexy) light.

This is not to say there isn’t any useful information on the site. Most of the ads contain comprehensive information regarding menu items, ambiance and upcoming events. For instance, I was able to glean a lot of information about a new club called Asia. If you’re ever in Vegas and are in the mood for progressive Euro Asian cuisine and want to rock out to anything from top 40 to house rock ‘n’ roll, you might want to give Asia a tumble. Got a hankering for a southern-style saloon? Well, Coyote Ugly might fit the bill. After all, it features “hot female bartenders who have elevated the pouring of drinks to an art form.”

Spyonvegas.com is also something of a social networking site. Members of the site can create a custom profile, upload photos, send photos to friends, send messages, post comments, and attach any photos that the site may have snapped of them partying at a club. They can even embed photos into their MySpace page.

Without question, the website provides useful information to those wanting a taste of Sin City’s hottest nightspots. It’s easy to navigate and, as previously mentioned, contains a lot of information on club particulars. Remember, though, if you’re ever in a Vegas club doing something you shouldn’t be doing, be careful: There may be a Spyonvegas.com photographer lurking about.
