A Review of Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment

Target sells some pretty decent hair care products, and whenever I see something new, I have this problem where I grab it, and toss it into my cart without hesitation.

Umberto Beverly Hills line of hair care products though won me over a few weeks ago with their conditioner. After falling in love with that, I of course wanted to try other products the line had to offer, thus this review: Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment.

What is Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment?

This intensive hair treatment is designed for those with dry, coarse, and color treated hair. Yet at the same time it claims that it will improve and repair all hair types. Okey dokey! It sounded good enough to me.

Better yet though was that Target was having a buy any 2 Umberto Products and get Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment for free! Yep, a $10.00 savings.

Seeing how I already loved the conditioner, I grabbed a new bottle of that, and a bottle of Umberto shampoo! For free, Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment!Yeah, yeah, yeah! $30.00 worth of hair care for $20.00. Not too shabby eh?

Packaging:

Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment comes in a plastic gold colored jug. The packaging itself is nothing fancy, nor would it really catch your eyes on the shelves. Seeing how it looked new though, and I’m always seeking new things, it sort of jumped out at me. You’d have to be a real hair product junkie though to know that it were new.

My Use:

I shampooed my hair like usual, and rinsed. Afterward I added a decent amount of Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment to my wet locks. According to the directions though I was supposed to leave the treatment in for around 10 minutes, which is unusual for me. Most of my hair treatments don’t call for more than 3 minutes of wait time.

I figured I may as well try it as directed.

The scent was very pleasant, and had a fresh Downy laundry detergent type scent…which may sound odd, but I like this type of scent a lot. I didn’t mind this scent being my hairs official scent for a day or so at all! In fact I was welcoming to the scent, and hoped it’d stay within my locks.

After waiting it out for what seemed like an eternity, I then rinsed my hair. It seemed to rinse out easily, and my hair felt really squeaky clean.

Drying though was a different story.

Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment left my hair feeling like it still had the treatment in it. High residue, and sticky unwashed feeling! It was nasty! I assumed though that I had not rinsed enough! I swore though in the shower I had gotten every last drop of it out!

I figured I may as well let it be for the time being, and I’d shower again later in the day. I had no time to jump back in to re-rinse.

Something funny occurred a few hours later though. My mom came up to me complaining about Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment as well. I hate when she uses my things, but the joke was on her because her hair was also left feeling the same grimy way. Unwashed, sticky, and weighed down.

Second Shower:

This time I passed up using Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment. I figured whatever left over residue in my hair would have given me an awesome intensive treatment... and that when I showered the second time using something else, my hair would benefit from the treatment residue left behind.

Indeed it did.

Overall:

Although Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment feels disgusting in your hair the first time you use it, it will leave behind a residue that will treat your hair to some benefits when you shower the second time using something else. Weird I know!

Recommendation:

I do not recommend leaving Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment in your hair for longer than 3 minutes. It seems the longer I leave it in the more sticky my hair is afterward.

I now only use a very small dab of Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment, and wash it out in about 3 minutes. I get much nicer feeling/looking hair when I use it this way. I use it very sparingly, and I’d recommend you use it once a week or less often for healthier looking hair.

If your hair is really, really damaged, and dry then perhaps you may want to use Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment for longer amounts of time. For those of us though with only slight damage, do not leave this stuff in for too long unless you have time to rinse again in a few hours.

All in all I’d rate Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment 3 out of 5 stars. It would have been a higher rating had the treatment not left behind an unwashed feeling to my hair. Basically Umberto Beverly Hills Intensive Hair Treatment has its ups, and its downs.

As far as scent goes, the pleasant fresh clean scent did not last at all. So that was a downer.
