A Guide to Finding Latin Home Decor Online

Amistad, Diego Rivera, Folk Art, Kitchen Lighting, Pillow Covers

A room redecorated with a Latin American flair immediately becomes warm and inviting. If you are going to be redecorating a room in your home be it a bedroom or a common room and are thinking of going with a Latin decor the following sites are great places to find authentic decor or just fun stuff with a Latin theme. A few things to keep in mind when choosing the decor. Try to look for pieces that contrast in color and things that are very bright and colorful. Popular colors for a latin themed room are yellow, red, orange, green and bright blues all colors that exude warmth. Anything that is folk art looks great in a room and is a great piece. Try looking for some traditional Latin art and framing it yourself to decorate the walls.

If you are looking for large pieces of furniture with a Latin feel try Direct From Mexico an Authentic Mexican Importer. They carry a line of rustic looking Mexican furniture in all price ranges. While on their website be sure to take a look at the metal crafts they carry, the iron and tin candleholders are very Latin. They also have some Mexican folk art pieces.

Over at Novica they have plenty of stuff to decorate your walls that lend a Latin touch. My favorite pieces are the reverse painted glass mirrors especially the ones in the shape of a sunflower. For a Mexican theme look through the Aztec calendars or the archeological replicas.

La Fuente Imports is another site to find great authentic folk art pieces, they have a huge selection of Oaxacan carvings, Huichol beadwork and retablos. But if you are looking for a signature piece for your room look through the beautiful collection of Tapia lighting. The cast iron chandeliers, table lamps, and sconces all have that old hacienda feel to them.

Iki Exports features handicrafts directly from Latin American artisans on their website. I found some really bright and super affordable pillows and pillow covers. All of them are handmade and feature bright bold designs in traditional latin textile. Really at five dollars these are a total steal. Also unique to this site are handwoven baskets made in Brazil. These come in many designs and shapes and are also very affordable compared to others I have found.

If you are looking for some traditional Latin kitchen decor try Zarapes a fine Mexican importer. They have an entire collection of traditional kitchen and housewares that can be used as decor or really be put to use. Every Latin kitchen is not complete without stoneware and you can find basalt lave molcajetes that are the real thing.

For Latin prints try Crafts Amistad which has a selection of the traditional Latin artists that come to mind as well as some up and coming artists. My favorites are always the prints by Diego Rivera and those by Simon Silva.

Have fun decorating your room and remember to keep it warm and fill it with pieces you like for the best outcomes.
