Ok, this is such a fun and unique craft and wood working project. The possibilities are endless and your own table will never be like anyone else’s! So, get the kids involved and spend a weekend creating this awesome game table for the entire family.

The first thing you need to do is find a table. This table can be wood or laminate. If you have an old table you don’t mind transforming, this will be a great use for it.

Go ahead and lightly sand your table. Whether it is wood or laminate will need alight sanding.

Wipe the dust away with a dry cloth.

Roll on a coat of Kilz primer. This primer whorls well on laminate furniture as well as wood furniture.

Allow this primer to dry, and then paint on a coat of paint in any color or style you want. I always recommend milk paint. It looks great on wood and is very durable.

Now for the real fun. You need to create some stencils using your family’s favorite game boards.

To do this you will need one sheet for acetate per game board.

Open up your favorite game board. Lay the acetate sheet on top.

Use the thin or extra fine Sharpie to trace out the game board feature that are the most important.

Use the exacto knife to cut out your stencil pattern. Be sure to keep the important piece you have to completely cut out. For example, if you have to cut out the center if the letter O, then keep the inner circle.

Now, you can probably fit between 2 and 4 game board stencil on your newly painted table.

Cut all of your game board stencils out first and ten ay them out as desire don the table Use the painter’s tape to hold them in place. You could also use the stencil adhesive spray.

Now, start stenciling. Use acrylic paints and stencil brushes.

Allow your stencil paints to dry complete. Now, paint on two coats of polyurethane o protects the art work on your game table. The kids can help with all of these steps. You could even let each kid trace and cut their own game board stencil.

You can use the existing game pieces from your favorite boards game so to play on your new game table. I really like this simple project because even if you live in a small space you could simply drape the table with a great tablecloth and still have your dining room or kitchen table back again.

The opposite is also true. You could simply stencil these designs onto a fabric table cloth that fits you game table! Just be sure to wash the table cloth first and then stencil with fabric paints!
