Review: Little Debbie Nutty Bar Cheesecake

Little Debbie

A few months ago I read an article on Associated Content about someone using Little Debbie snack cakes to make other desserts out of. I decided to check out some of the recipes that are listed on the Little Debbie website and try them. However, as I was enjoying a Little Debbie Nutty Bar I found a recipe on the back of the box that I decided I had to try – Nutty Bar Cheesecake. Being a huge fan of cheesecake of almost any kind, I decided that I had make it immediately.

As I started to read the directions as to how to make it I found that the nutty bars are used as the crust of the cheesecake in place of the normal graham crackers. Nutty bars also make a side crust to this dessert also. Anyway, the filling is made with normal cheesecake ingredients with a surprise ingredient, peanut butter. My family and I are fans of peanut butter so I knew that this was a winning recipe.

As I prepared the cheesecake, I found that it was an easy recipe to follow and that it was fairly simple to make and didn’t take a lot of time to make either. Simple and quick are too of my favorite words when I am cooking. I am not a fan of spending a lot of time in the kitchen. Although, I do like to cook. As I served it for dessert, the family was amazed that I had made such a fabulous dessert and I was not about to tell them how easy it was. Everyone loved the dessert. The cheesecake was very creamy and the peanut butter added such fabulous flavor to it. The crust and side made from the Nutty Bars was a delious added effect to the cheesecake. I had found a favorite dessert and thought that I had to share it with all of you.

Here is the recipe that is on the box. You should try it if you like peanut butter and cheesecake.

NUTTY BAR CHEESECAKE:

24 Nutty Bars wafer bars
2 – 8 ounce packages of cream cheese
1 – 4 ounce package instant vanilla pudding
2 cups of chunky peanut butter ( I used just plain creamy peanut butter)
2 cups milk
1 cup whipping cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted butter

1. Unwrap 12 nutty bars and chop in a blender until finely crushed. Pour into bowl.
2. Add butter to crushed nutty bars and mix well. Press into bottom of 12′ spring form pan. Set aside.
3. Unwrap remaining nutty bars. Cut them in half and line rim of pan with bars.
4. Combine cream cheese, milk, peanut butter, and sugar in a seperate bowl adn whip until fluffy.
5. Add whipping cream, pudding mix, and vanilla to cream cheese filling and mix for two minutes.
6. Pour filling into crust and chill overnight. ( I only chilled a few hours before I served it. )

I am sure that you will like this recipe and you can find many more of these kinds of desserts on the Little Debbie website.
