Review of Masala Wok Restaurant in Plano, Texas

Basmati, Plano Texas

I am fond of trying various types of restaurants all over the USA during my visits at all different places. Recently, I have been trying various restaurants in Dallas area. We went recently to one Indian restaurant named Masala Wok, located at 8404 Preston Road, Suite-130, Plano, Tx-75024 at phone number 469-362-5586. This restaurant is mainly famous for the Chinese varieties having an Indian twist of taste. Normally, Chinese varieties of the USA are having different taste and do not have an Indian type of taste. As we are of Indian origin, we love the Indian type of taste in Chinese varieties. Hence, Masala wok turned out to be the most ideal restaurant for us. Masala wok is casual Indian type of diner serving Indian and Indo-Chinese dishes. There are in all three branches of Masala Wok in the Dallas area.

The restaurant interior was also found nicely decorated and all the furniture items are of good quality tick wood. We were taken to our table and handed over the menus. There were around 6 types of starters like spring rolls, chicken lollipops, crispy kababs, samosa and samosa chat. We ordered samosa and spring roll as the starters. The starters are priced at $5 per plate. Two plates of starters were good enough for 4 of us. The soups are also available in around 8 varieties like sweet corn chicken or vegetarian, wonton, manchau, tomato, and hot and sour, priced at $2 per serving. We did not order for any soup, as we wanted to taste main dishes more. There are in all 24 main entrees that the restaurant is serving. There are traditional Indian items like meats, chicken and bread cooked in tandoor. We had ordered vegetable noodles, Dal fried, Masala Aloo, and the side order of Nan and Paraunthas. The main entrée items are served with Basmati or brown rice or noodles. The cost of vegetarian main entrees was $ 6.99, paneer was $7.99, chicken was $7.50, lamb was $7.99, and the shrimp was at $ 8.99. The proportions in all the main dishes were also found very large. All the dishes were lovely and delicious. We had an opportunity to enjoy the Chinese varieties in Indian taste for the first time in the USA. We ordered khir and rasmalai as deserts. These were really tasty. The side orders like Nan, tanduri roti, noodles, raita, waffle fries, basmati rice, and curry sauce were also available in the price range of $1 to $2.50. The soft drinks in all the varieties are also available at $1.25. There is also a special kid’s menu served at the concessional rates on all seven days of the week. The restaurant opens at 11 am everyday and closes at 10 pm on all weekdays. It remains open for one more hour during the weekends.

The service was very good and the staff was also very polite and full of good manners. It took around 18 minutes to serve the main orders to us. One of the slight negative aspects was the limited number of deserts served. Only 3 deserts were served, out of which one was the milk cake. That means that only two Indian deserts were available. This appeared slightly limiting to all of us sweet lovers. The restaurant is big enough having total capacity of around 180 persons. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was also very lively and you feel like visiting it again and again. The restaurant is also having a party hall that can accommodate around 80 persons. You can arrange any type of party here at this hall. This restaurant also attends to outside catering orders.

As a conclusion, Masala Wok is a casual restaurant serving Indian and Indo-Chinese delicacies that would really appeal to all the people who love the Chinese food having an Indian twist in the taste.
