Wilton Armetale Woven Bread Tray Review

I love Wilton products, and the name to me stands for quality. Some of their products are very expensive, and for a good reason. But recently I was able to buy a $40 Wilton Armetale Woven Bread Tray for as low as $11, during a huge sale.

Description

This bread tray measures 9 1/4″ long by 6 1/2″ wide, and it is 1 1/4″ in height. It is constructed of metal, with a polished silver interior, and it looks very much like pewter to me. The corners are slightly rounded, and the ends and sides slant outward slightly. There is a woven border etched into the bottom of the tray, giving it a very African style.

Care

Most silver serveware has to be polished to be kept looking new, which can be a real pain. This Wilton Bread Tray has the wonderful look of sterling silver, but I don’t have to worry about care or polishing it. The Wilton Company promises that their products won’t break, crack, chip, rust or tarnish. It’s no secret that many products these days are mass produced, but this tray is not, each piece is made with individual care. They are non-toxic, but should be washed by hand because automatic dishwashers can harm the metal’s finish. A simple washing with mild soap and water is all that is needed.

Usage

This bread tray is great for a family night dinner, or fancy enough to be used to serve guests during the holidays. They are durable enough to withstand temperatures up to 1000 degrees F, and at the same time they can be put in the freezer and fridge. I can use this bread tray in the oven, on the stove or on the grill. Heat doesn’t damage the finish of the tray, so I don’t have to worry about hurting it in any way. Wilton Armetale Serveware is equally at home with cold foods and beverages as much as it is with hot foods. This tray will keep hot foods hot longer and cold foods colder loner as well.

Wilton Armetale products are made by traditional sand molding. Sand molds are filled with Armetale metal, then they are cooled and finished by hand, so each piece is an individual crafted piece, and no two are exactly the same. My bread tray is a work of art, and every time my guests see me use it they ask me where I got it! It is a wonderful way to serve hot bread, muffins, pastries, and finger foods. It’s also a very substantial tray, even though it’s a small size, it’s quite heavy, and you can just feel the quality and craftmanship when you hold it in your hands.

The History of This Serveware

The Wilton Company was founded in 1892, and today they are still a family owned and operated company, based in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
