Diablo 3 RMAH Tips

The Diablo 3 RMAH is a mystery to some people. Plain and simple. Hopefully this series of Diablo 3 RMAH Guides and Tips i’ll be writing over the next week or so will help clarify things for those people, as well as teach players how to make money on the Diablo 3 RMAH in general.

Diablo 3 RMAH Tips Part 1: Getting Items Worth Selling!

The Real Money Auction system means nothing if you don’t have items to sell that other players are willing to pay REAL money for. Period. Therefore, the first few RMAH Tips I will provide center on ways that you can get items worth selling on the RMAH. You don’t necessarily need to be level 60 or playing on Inferno difficulty to take advantage of them, but it may help since Inferno gear is always of a higher value than “regular” Diablo 3 loot.

The Diablo 3 Magic Find “Exploit”

  • This was brought to the attention of Blizzard that some people were abusing MF by gear swapping just before killing a boss or champions. Blizzard didn’t fix anything yet because they didn’t see this as a game breaker (of course, because these gear swappers are only using MF tweaks for shorts periods of time).

What this means is simple. What you want to do (for bosses especially) is use your normal DPS or Tanking gear as usual untill the boss or elite is almost dead, then swap over to a +Magic Find set right before the boss dies. This will ensure that you get the most valuable loot possible from every boss kill.

Also, you want to make sure you have 5 Stacks of NV before taking on a boss (if possible).
The exact amount of magic find and gold find provided by the buff is 15%. It can stack up to 5 times (to a total of 75%) and will last 30 minutes. The duration can be refreshed by killing additional elite packs, but the buff will not grow to more than 5 stacks.

Diablo 3 RMAH Tips Part 2: Selling Your Items

If you’ve been just trying to sell things on the Diablo 3 RMAH sporadically or part time, you have probably noticed that not everything you put up is guaranteed to sell. Players are ONLY willing to buy things on the RMAHH if it has exactly what they are looking for on it, and the price is right. You’ll want to do some research on the items you have before you put them up for sale by searching on the RMAH yourself and seeing what the high and low price for items like the ones you’re trying to sell. Make a mental note of this. Now that you have a value in mind, you have two choices: Sell low and increase the odds of the sale happening, or sell higher and increase your profitability.

Lets say I have a random Legendary shield. Stormshield for example. On the RMAH there are Stormshields listed for anywhere between $2 and $175. Now, if I have the 32% block one, ill probably list it in the $100 range since that is an item with a very high demand, and proce tag on both the gold and RMAH markets. If I have something other than the 32% block, I’ll probably list it somewhere on the lower end of that scale, depending on what other stats are on the item. Will the $100 shield sell right away? Probably not. Will it sell a lot faster at $5? Definitely.

The point I’m trying to make is when it comes to the Diablo 3 RMAH, know your items and do your research. After that, all you need is some patience.
