How to Check a California Identification Card

Are you interested in becoming a bartender, security guard, or just wonder how people check identification cards in California? ID checking is to verify someone’s age and to make sure that there ID is real. ID checking is used when someone wants to go into a bar, buy cigarettes, go into casinos and etc. Then this guide will help you become an expert in checking ids.

Step One: Look at the Name, Birth date, sex, description and address on the identification card

When checking a California ID or drivers license first look at all the information on the id. This includes checking the person’s name, birth date, sex, description and address. After looking at this information take a quick look at the person who owns the id to make sure that they look like their description.

Step Two: Look at the picture

Check the picture and then look again at the person to make sure they look like their picture.

Step Three: Expiration date

The expiration date is located on top of the picture on the ID and is in red. Verify the date with the present date to make sure it’s not expired. If the ID is expired then that person cannot use their id to get into any place that checks ids.

Step Four: Look at the signature

On the ID the signature of the person should be located on the bottom. If you have any doubts that the ID is not real or not the person’s then you can ask them to write their signature on a piece of paper. Then see if their id on the paper matches the id.

Step Five: Feel the id

Feel the ID to check if it’s real. A California ID has three layers, and usually can not peel at the corners. If the id your checking is peeling and you see paper then it is NOT a real California ID. Also if you feel bumps on the ID then that is a sign that it is NOT real as well.

Step Six: Look at the magnet strip and white address strip on the back of the ID

Look at the magnet strip and white strip on the back of the ID. If the black strip looks like it was done by a marker or is faded then the ID may not be real. Also if the white strip looks like it was done by white out or something else then it may not be real.

Step Seven: Holograms
The final step is to look for the holograms on the California ID. On the front of the Id there are three reflective seals which are The Seal of California. Then there is a bigger seal that is in white on the front of the ID. There is also a secret hologram that can only be seen on the California ID but only through looking at it with a black light or also known as an ultraviolet light. This hologram is a picture of the California flag. If you cannot see one or any of these holograms then it is not real.

After completing these steps you will be a great ID checker expert.
