Want to Be a Miller Girl? Get Ahead of the Game

Miller Lite

I get asked questions about the beer business on a daily basis. My experience in the industry is so spread out that I can usually answer most of these questions easily. The most commonly asked question that I get is from females wanting to know what is it like to be a Miller Lite girl and how they can apply. The job is not often easily found, as it is not really advertised for in any areas that I have ever seen, yet it is one of a few jobs that has tons of applicants.

To be a Miller Lite girl, there are several things marketing managers are going to want to look for. Social skills is a must; your job is to communicate with people, so you must show that you can do that well. You must have class; most of these distributors are wanting girls who can carry themselves with pride and represent their company in a respectful and professional way. They are not hiring a group of girls to get drunk and seem like the town hooker. From the outside the job can seem like a paid night out on the town, but I assure you, there is much more to it than that.

Marketing and advertising are taken care of by the corporate executives at Miller Lite, as it is with all other corporate businesses. The personal aspect of it however, such as a team of girls, is done by distributors through their warehouses. They are responsible for setting up an on premise marketing plan with the corporate office and hiring and executing the on premise program themselves. Usually a person from the warehouse is put in charge of this, or a lead girl takes the role. In several larger cities, however, corporate has hired and placed a significant marketing manager to assume this position full time. These are the people you will have to track down and get ahold of.

The easiest way to find out who distributes the product in your area is to ask. Any restaurant, gas station or bar that serves Miller Lite will know the name of the company. Call the distributor and ask them if they have an on premise marketing program, and if so, find out who runs it for them. If they are hiring, they will be more than happy to speak to you about working with them.

A lot of females forget when they start working that they are there to do a job. That job is to promote a product; beer. You don’t necessarily have to drink it yourself, but you do need to communicate with others to get them to purchase your product. It is a fairly easy job most of the time to convince a person to buy at least one of what you are pushing because you offer them incentives. Prizes are brought to each promotion to urge people to make the switch, and it usually works easily. To be effective, learn a little bit about your product; where is it brewed? has there been any modifications to it? has the company been putting out any new products that you could inform the patron about? Anything that could be a good introduction to why you are there pushing your product gives you an easy in with clients, and the more you know the easier it becomes.
