7 Holiday Money Making Ideas for Teens

Money Making Ideas

The holidays are nearly upon us and many teens are trying to find ways to earn some extra money so that they can buy friends and family some Christmas gifts. These ideas will help teens to get started on making some extra money and who knows, they just might become a full time business.

Harvest Party

Plan and organize a Harvest party for younger children. Gather a few friends together and find a local facility that will be large enough for a group of children. Plan out activities such as games, a cake walk, maybe a fun house or not too scary haunted house and have some candy on hand. Charge a dollar or so for admittance and maybe a few more dollars for the fun house. Set your hours and advertise your event.

Personal Shopper

Elderly and shut ins have many shopping needs. If a teen is mature enough and has a means of transportation they can make some money on this idea. Make up some flyer’s and distribute them to local churches, senior halls and such. List your name, phone number and hours available. Be sure to list what sorts of shopping you are willing to do as well such as grocery, clothing, gifts etc.

Gift Wrap Service

Many people barely have enough time to shop for gifts let alone time to wrap them. Leave flyer’s around town at popular businesses and offer a gift wrapping service for a nominal fee. Charge according to small, medium or large sized gifts. Many department stores will hire gift wrappers during the holiday season as well.

Tutor

If you’re proficient in a specific subject this may be for you. Advertise your services on school bulletin boards, in school newspapers, in local newspapers, on local bulletin boards and such. Call around and find out the going rate for tutors in your area and charge a fee just slightly below the average cost and you’re in business. Raise fees accordingly as time progresses to keep your earnings competitive.

Child Care

Offer parents reasonably priced childcare one or two nights per week while they shop. You could offer this service a few times per week during the pre holiday season and mid holiday season to help parents get their shopping done. Charge by the hour, by the child or flat rate depending on the average in your area. Plan some fun activities for the kids and you’ll have repeat customers next year.

Calligraphy

A teen skilled in calligraphy can make a bundle on invitations, announcements, gift cards and more. Practice your skills daily and create a portfolio. Leave brochures (hand created of course with calligraphy) at such places as wedding venues, gift shops and such. Don’t forget local bulletin boards and specialty shops.

Errand/Delivery Service

During the holiday seasons many companies have more orders than they can handle. Offer an errand or delivery service to help pick up the slack on such needs. You can charge a flat daily rate or a per trip rate depending on how often you’ll be needed by said company.

There are many more great teen job ideas out there that will help a teen to make it through the holiday season. These ideas should get those creative juices flowing and help any teen find something to earn a few extra dollars during the upcoming holiday seasons.
