Anyone who has every been to Western North Carolina is familiar with the natural mesmerizing beauty of this mountainous area. If you have never been to western North Carolina, then you don’t know what you’re missing. Good food, nice people, and great entertainment, this area of North Carolina is a popular place to visit. Just about everyone likes to see a good movie every now and then, and if you’re ever in western North Carolina, there are several choices of theatres to choose from in the area.

Twin Cinemas is located in downtown Andrews on Hwy 19. Since Twin Cinemas is in such a small town, many people think that it’s more of a dollar theatre that shows older movies. This is far from the truth, though, as this particular theatre shows newly released movies every week. If a movie is popular, it’ll stay for more than a week, but usually the movies are different every Friday. Admission is only $4 per person for 3 and 5pm shows, and even popcorn, drinks and other refreshments are very low-cost. It’s a smaller theatre and it shows movies on Monday through Friday at 7 pm and 9pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 3, 5, 7 and 9pm. If you’re interesting in dining out after the movie, there are many choices in the area. Right across the street is KFC which offers a buffet, and there are several restaurants, including Elsie’s Steak & Seafood and Burger Basket, which has the biggest hamburgers you’ve probably ever seen in your life.

Located in Murphy, North Carolina, the Henn Theatre is another choice in the area. Established in 1934, this small, one-screen, historic theatre has recently added a new surround-sound system, new plush seats with cup holders, a new screen, carpet and air conditioning, and is currently in the process of making more updates as well. Due to these updates, which includes new bathrooms, a new concession stand and more, the theatre is closed until May 21st. Ticket prices are $4 before 5pm and after 5, $5.50, which is still very economical. Even though the Henn Theatre is located in the very small town of Murphy, there are a great deal of restaurants to choose from if you’d like to eat before or after the movie. With numerous fast food restaurants like Sonic, Taco Bell, Wendy’s and McDonald’s, and even more sit-down family-style restaurants to choose from, you won’t have a difficult time finding exactly what you crave.

The beautiful town of Franklin, North Carolina has a wonderful theatre, Ruby Cinemas, that offers five different new releases. This medium-sized mountain theatre’s admission price is $5 for everyone before 5pm and after 5pm, it’s $5.50 for children and $7 for adults. Ruby Cinemas is surrounded by an abundance of stores and restaurants, and you can eat Mexican, Chinese, Barbecue, buffet-style meals and more. Monday – Friday, movies are shown at 4 pm and 7pm, as well as 9pm on Fridays. On Saturdays and Sundays, they’re shown at 2, 4, 7 and 9pm.

Young Harris, Georgia is less than 5 minutes from the North Carolina state line, and many who live in or are visiting the Andrews/Murphy area will drive 15 or 20 minutes in order to get to the Fieldstone Cinema 6 where they can get a choice of 6 newly released movies. With an admission price of $6 before 5pm, many people don’t mind driving to this medium-sized theatre. Fieldstone Cinema 6 has a breathtaking view, as directly across the street is a beautiful lake which is surrounded by lovely waterfalls and mountains. Right next door is Fun World, an indoor video arcade and more. You can play laser tag, go go-cart racing,play mini-golf and more. Fun World also has a pizzeria where you can eat pizza, salad, calzones, and much more. There’s even an ice cream parlor where you can have dessert.

The Quinn Theatres in Sylva, North Carolina shows new releases for a $5 adult admission price and $4 for children, seniors and matinees. With the choice of four different movies, this cute little mountain theatre is a nice place to see a movie in the North Carolina mountains. With low-cost concessions and numerous restaurants to eat at in the area, this small cinema receives a great deal of patrons on a regular basis. The theatre opens just before the 4 pm showing on weekdays and on weekenda it opens before 1 pm, which is when the first showing is on weekends.
