3 Best Chicago Beer Gardens

Wrigleyville

Chicago Beer gardens are a fun way to socialize, get to know different neighborhoods in the city, and yes, have a great beer with friends. Chicago is a large city, so finding 3 great beer gardens was not difficult at all.

There is a distinct German presence in the Windy City. In fact there are many neighborhoods that hold on to their European roots. Here is a look at my 3 favorite beer gardens in Chicago.

Chicago Beer Gardens #1: Sheffield’s Beer Garden

Sheffield’s is located at 3258 N Sheffield Ave, Chicago, IL 60657 and can be reached at (773) 281-4989. They get the number one billing from me because of their super popular Wrigleyville location. After you hit a Cubs game, along with the rest of Chicago and all the tourists, you can stubble over to Sheffields only a few blocks away.

I love the atmosphere here, the food has tons of BBQ options, and people are super friendly. It is easy to mingle here since you have to sit so close to other people, which is the whole point of a Beer Garden. So, if you do not like crowds, sitting a little too close, or BBQ, then head the other way!

The crowd ranges from just over 21 to the top of the scale, so it is a nice mix of all ages. The trend here does seem to be the over 3 crowd.

Sheffield’s is open Sun-Fri 11:30am-2am, Sat 11:30am-3am.

Chicago Beer Gardens #2: Jak’s Tap

Jak’s Tap is located at 901 W Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL 60607 and can be reached at (312) 666-1700. They are open Mon-Wed 11am-12am, Thu-Fri 11am-2am, Sat 5pm-2am, Sun 12pm-11pm.

OK, if you love beer, then Jak’s will be your new favorite hang out. They have over 40 beers on draft here, a candy store of beer I must say.

The crowd is at business type because if their location, but everyone is super friendly and simply out to have a cold beer and a little socializing with friends and new friends.

I love this particular beer grand not only for the huge draft list, but also for their food list! Yum. Try the chili if you make it down there and have room in your stomach for more than barley and hops.

They also sell a mean BBQ plate, which is awesome. You will leave with a full belly, probably a new friend, and a great time.

Chicago Beer Gardens #3: Navy Pier

Finally, the Beer Garden at Navy Pier is my third choice for great near garden because it is in such a great location. The food is not why you would come here. I really would not come for the choice of beers either. You will be limited to items like Bud and Bud Light.

I promise you will not care to much about the beer though as your relax outside, right on the water, watching the tourists wonder by and catch a fireworks show from yoru seat!
