10 New Invention Ideas I’d like to See

Duracell, New Movie Releases

10 New Invention Ideas I’d like to See – Where are these promises of the future? As a child, I certainly thought that the year 2000 would be “The Future,” complete with flying cars and underground dwellings. The year 2000 came and went, and there were no flying cars. We live above ground (thankfully), and we are still overly reliant on fossil fuels.

One monumental innovation which I remember first reading about in a now defunct science magazine, was the Internet. The article described how people would be able to do everything from home including work, shop, watch new movie releases and more. It even predicted the end of the drive-in theater.

Maybe I watched too much Star Trek as a child. But with the first decade of the 21st century winding down, I am left wondering, where are these products of The Future?

10 New Invention Ideas I’d Like to See

1. Freeze-o-matic New Invention for Kitchens

Haven’t you always wanted the freezer equivalent of a microwave oven? What a fantastic new invention that would be. How great would it be to have a household appliance that could freeze water, or make items super cold, as quickly as we can heat up food with a microwave? A regular refrigerator and freezer do not have that capability. Now that invention could make instant Jell-o really live up to its name.

2. Digital Wall Calendar New Invention for Home Decor

This new invention has to be under development by someone. The digital photo frame is available, and it’s cute and all, but how practical is it? What about a digital wall calendar that keeps track of appointments, birthdays, and everything else we like to write down. It should sync with iCal and Outlook calendars.

3. Pedometer in Every Portable Electronic Device

How difficult would it be to install pedometer software in every cell phone, PDA, iPod and MP3 player? We walk around with one or more of these devices every day. This would be a great new tool for fitness.

Exercisers who really want to track their steps may also be carrying an MP3 player. Who wants to walk or run with a pedometer, too? Can’t the software just be integrated into our MP3 players? Now, that’s a download I may even pay for, unless of course it was on Limewire.

4. Affordable Hybrid Vehicles

Yes, hybrid vehicles exist. They have been invented. But are they really affordable to everyone? But they would be more attractive to the consumer, and more popular, if they were more affordable.

5. Solar-Powered Everything: New Invention for the Environment

Solar-powered calculators have existed for years. What about solar-powered MP3 players or digital cameras? Now that would be innovation. Apologies to Duracell and Energizer, but it would make a lot a more sense for the consumer.

6. Secure Wireless Everything

One of the best and most aesthetically-pleasing new inventions or technological advancements would be a way to have wireless everything, securely.

7. Transporter: New Invention for Travel

Would our energy and transportation woes be gone if we could just use transporters for traveling and commuting? Blame Star Trek, blame Willy Wonka, but I want my transporter!

8. Replicator: New Invention with Endless Applications

Along the same lines, wouldn’t a replicator be nice? Again, a device from science fiction, the replicator would turn the consumer economy on its head. Which is why we will never see this new invention. Replicator does not even pass the spell-checker!

9. Time Machine: New Invention for the Adventurous

The time machine would be the ultimate travel and entertainment device. It could also be used to really screw things up, depending on how you view history.

10. Flying Car: New Invention for Commuters

There are times when a flying car would come in pretty handy. Would that mean we all need a pilot’s license in addition to our driving license? Plus, some people can barely drive on the road, imagine if they had the option to drive a flying car. There is a good reason this new invention has not made it to the local car dealership floor. Yet.
