10 Best Places to Find Items to Sell on Ebay

Shopping at Thrift Stores

Ebay is one of the best ways people these days can make extra money by selling their stuff. However, some of us don’t have alot of stuff to sell but still would like to make more money. If you need inventory for your ebay business, there are many places you can go to get items to sell on ebay. To get inventory you do need some starting cash but don’t worry there are many inexpensive places where you can buy inventory and resell it for a higher value on ebay. Here are 10 places where you can get stuff to sell on Ebay.

#10 Thrift Stores

I prefer shopping at thrift stores for ebay inventory over antique stores. First of all, thrift stores have lots of stuff and half the time they don’t know the real value of what something is. Sometimes you can even find rare collectible items, or antique items that go for mere dollars. I once got 6 boxes of collectible twilight cards before the 2nd and 3rd movies came out. I paid only $12 for all of the boxes and ended up selling the cards for over $300. I found out that there were 5 really rare collectible cards in the boxes and that made the value of all the cards go up. Now don’t get me wrong these finds are always great but sometimes you also get your items where you only make double which am also still really good.

When thrift store shopping you have to be patient and go through the whole store and look through all the shelves and boxes. Sometimes you can even barter the price with the workers on an item. Always bring a phone that has internet with you that way you can do research on an item before you purchase it to see if it worth anything.

#9 Garage or Estate Sales

Garage Sales and Estate Sales are also great places to find items to sell on ebay. Just make sure to bring enough cash because you usually can’t use a credit card at these places. Prices for items at garage sales and estate sales are usually very flexible because again you can try to barter with the seller of the items. One thing I like to do is to make sure they do not know how much money I have and also to carry a lot of smaller bills. So if an item is priced at $10 for example, and you have a lot of small bills you can show $6 or $7 and say this is all I have can I give you that for your item. If you are buying a group of items try to get what I call a bundle discount.

# 8 Old book Stores or Book Sales

Book Stores and book sales are great places to get items to sell on ebay. Old collectible magazines and journals are always good finds. Any 1st editions of popular books are also good finds. Just make sure to take your time and go through things and definitely do research if you don’t know what something is.

# 7 Craft Stores

Craft Stores are great places to get inventory for ebay. Half the reason is you can make your own items. For example you can buy products to make cards, jewelry, homemade kits, coasters, blankets. You can get supplies to make all kinds of crafts. The great thing is once you make the inventory you will be set for at least a while.

# 6 The Post Office or anywhere that sells stamps

If you purchase stamps to resell on ebay you definitely want to do research and get all the details about the stamps. I would recommend holiday stamps or limited edition ones. To get more value for stamps you might want to save them for at least a little while. The older the stamps you find the better they will sell on ebay especially if they are in mint condition.

# 5 Flea Markets and Rummage Sales

These places are similar to the garage sales except usually flea markets are a lot bigger and you have multiple sellers with lots of items. Remember to use your bartering techniques and bring cash. Flea markets also usually offer bigger items too if you want to try to go that route.

# 4 Online Wholesaler Websites

If you have a little more extra cash and want to buy in bulk for your ebay inventory then wholesaler websites or online auctions are the way to go. Some of these websites take paypal and also credit cards. Just make sure to read all of the websites return and cancel policies, and ask questions if you are unsure what condition the items are in.

# 3 Ebay itself

Sometimes you can find bulk items on ebay itself and then resell the items individually. Just make sure to price the auctions out right in order to make a profit back.

# 2 Items in your own house

A lot of us don’t realize that sometimes we have more items than we know it that we can sell on ebay. Just look in your closets, garages, basements, and attics. Do you have a lot of boxes stacked up somewhere that you haven’t gone through in years? Go through those boxes and see what you might be able to sell. Go through your old clothes that are in good condition and sell the name brand stuff. Sell old collectible items you don’t care for anymore. You never know you might find something that is worth a lot.

# 1 Resell Gifts

Did you get something that you didn’t want for Christmas or your birthday this year and it is brand new? Resell it on Ebay. This works especially well when you don’t have a receipt for the item to return. Instead just sell it back on ebay.

These places are just a few out of many where you can get items to sell on ebay. Just remember to be creative about your search and careful of what you buy to resell. Once you have items to sell you can start making that extra cash.
