10 Best Non-Tourist Sites to See in Kansas City, Missouri

When visiting Kansas City, Missouri, there are very many tourist drawn sites to see. But what you are missing are the wonderful gems that are hidden behind the tourist scenes. Here are some places you must stop to visit before leaving Kansas City.

10. Mill Creek Park
This park is a nice area to visit when your in the middle of the busy Kansas City. It is a great place for a family picnic. You can also do some hiking there. The nice calmness of being at the park makes this number 10 on my list.

9. Belger Arts Center
This small Art center is a hidden gem among all the museums. It is small but offers so many wonderful pieces of artwork that you can appreciate. The exhibits are tastefully done and are a real treat when visiting. This makes number 9 on my list.www.belgerartscenter.org/index.php

8.Segway Experience of Kansas City
Touring Kansas City is easy to do when driving in a car, but touring it on a Segway make the experience even more exciting. This tour gives you the opportunity to learn all the history and stories behind each place that is visited. You will be shown how to drive the Sedgway, and a guide will take you to all the amazing places. This is an excellent tour which is why it makes it my number 8 on the list. [email protected]

7. Missouri Town 1855 History Museum
This is a small museum hidden under the hustle and bustle of daily life. Located near Fleming Park this small quaint museum makes a great visit for learning the old Kansas City lifestyle around 1855. There are general re-enactors working a loom, a general store, and a blacksmiths place. This is a self guided tour. It really lets you see how life was when Kansas City was a small bustling town. That makes this number 7 on the list.

6. Loose Park Rose Garden
Loose Park Rose Garden is a wonderful treat to see. The fragrant smells and vivid colors of the blooming roses makes this visit a delightful one. The Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden is located in Kansas City’s Loose Park. The beautifulness of this cannot be missed. That is why is makes number 6 on the list.

5. J. C. Nichols Memorial Fountain
This fountain was dedicated to the memory of J.C. Nichols, the developer of Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza. This is one of the most treasured water fountains in town. The beautiful artwork displayed as the fountain waters show a great display makes this number 5 on the list.

4. Gangster Tour
This tour is a hidden one that you may over look, but make sure you try it before you leave. Kansas City was a favorite spot of the “old timers.” The Gangster Tour puts you hot on the trail of this city’s most notorious Gangsters. Hop on the bus and you’ll be immersed in a melodramatic look at mob homes and hangouts, turf wars and infamous crimes like the Union Station massacre. 3. Boulevard Brewery Tour
The best hometown hops house, Boulevard Brewery has a great tour that gives you a short history of the brewery, informative tour and a free Boulevard beer tasting that tops it all off. This a great place to visit and have a little relaxation time in between touring the City. The tastefulness of the brewery makes this number 3 on the list.

1. Pin-Up Bowl
This is not your regular old neighborhood bowling alley. This place is a chic swanky bowling alley that also has a martini bar in it. The retro decor, and the many varieties of martini’s and full bar, makes this number 1 on my list.
