WWE Elimination Chamber (2011) Predictions

Chamber, Elimination Chamber, Kofi Kingston, WWE

On February 20th, 2011, World Wrestling Entertainment presents the WWE Elimination Chamber Pay-Per-View. This will be the second annual Elimination Chamber event, after replacing the No Way Out event, which ran for eleven years. The concept of this PPV is that the two main event matches on the card will be contested inside the Elimination Chamber, the most demonic structure in all of professional wrestling. Currently, there have been two matches announced for the card, the six-man Raw Elimination Chamber to crown a new number one contender for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania and the WWE Championship Match. These are my predictions on the matches that will be on the Elimination Chamber card and who will come out victorious.

Eve (c) vs. Natalya for the Divas Championship: Like on most wrestling pay-per-views, the divas match is likely to go first on the card. Much has been happening in the divas division in the last few months. After winning her first Divas Championship at the Survivor Series pay-per-view, Natalya has had to fend off the attacks of Layla and Michelle McCool, as they attempted to get back their former title. Natalya lost her Divas title at the Royal Rumble in a Fatal-Four Way match to Eve, who won the title for the second time. Natalya is expected to get her rematch at Elimination Chamber. Prediction: Eve retains her brand new belt, winning with her finisher, the standing moonsault.

Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Ted DiBiase for the United States Championship: Daniel Bryan has held off all challengers in defense of his United States Championship, and is going on five months with the belt. Bryan is currently involved in a storyline with Gail Kim and the Bella Twins, which could lead to his undoing and losing the United States title soon. Bryan is focusing on this love angle, and not on his competition. A few weeks ago on the NXT program, Bryan lost his first match in a while to Ted DiBiase in a singles match. This makes me believe that DiBiase will be the next contender for Bryan’s championship. Prediction: The Bella Twins cost Bryan the match, awarding DiBiase the title and become DiBiase’s new valets.

Triple Threat Match – Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Jack Swagger vs. Alberto Del Rio for the Intercontinental Championship: Kofi Kingston won his third Intercontinental title over former champion Dolph Ziggler on SmackDown to start the new year. After that feud ended following a defense of the title by Kofi against Ziggler, Kingston began feuding with Jack Swagger. Swagger has not received his title shot yet because both Kingston and Swagger were in the Royal Rumble, but Swagger will likely get his opportunity at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Considering Alberto Del Rio will not have a world title match on this card, he is unlikely to miss the card fully, and could be put into this match to make it a triple threat. Prediction: Kingston keeps possession of his title, hitting the Trouble in Paradise on Jack Swagger for the pinfall victory.

SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match – Edge (c) vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Wade Barrett vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Kane for the World Heavyweight Championship: The first Elimination Chamber Match that has become a tradition every year at this PPV will most likely start with the SmackDown one for the World Heavyweight title. Edge is the defending champion and will have to defend his belt against five hungry challengers. Prediction: McIntyre and Kane will be eliminated fairly early in the match, leaving Mysterio, Ziggler, Barrett, and Edge in the final four. Ziggler will eliminate Mysterio with the ZigZag, while Edge takes care of Barrett with the spear. The final two competitors in the Elimination Chamber will be Ziggler and Edge. Edge will come out victorious by spearing Ziggler, holding on to his world championship going into WrestleMania.

Raw Elimination Chamber Match – Randy Orton vs. John Morrison vs. Sheamus vs. R-Truth vs. John Cena vs. CM Punk: The Anonymous GM of Raw announced a special seven-man Raw Rumble, with the winner going on to face The Miz for the WWE title. The six other wrestlers would have a match with each other inside the Elimination Chamber, with the winner becoming the new number one contender for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Prediction: R-Truth is first to be eliminated, followed by Sheamus being eliminated by Starship Pain from Morrison. CM Punk is eliminated next after an RKO from Orton, but Orton gets eliminated by an Attitude Adjustment from Cena. The final two will be John Cena and John Morrison. These two will go back and forth, with both trading near pinfalls. Cena will finally pick up the win by making Morrison submit to the STF.

The Miz (c) vs. Jerry Lawler for the WWE Championship: Jerry “The King” Lawler, at age 61, won the seven-man Raw Rumble on Monday Night Raw, ensuring him a WWE title match at the Elimination Chamber against the WWE Champion, The Miz. The Miz retained his title at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, beating Randy Orton for the third consecutive time, this time with help from CM Punk and the New Nexus. This will not be the first time that Lawler will have a match with The Miz. A few months ago, Lawler nearly won his first WWE Championship, in a TLC Match on Monday Night Raw, but was stopped by Michael Cole, helping The Miz to take down the belt. Prediction: The Miz hangs on to his WWE title, pinning Jerry Lawler after the Skull Crushing Finale.
