World’s Smartest Dog Breeds!

American Cocker Spaniel, Australian Cattle Dog, Bichon Frise, Intelligent

Isn’t it great when you know you have a smart pet? Few feelings can compare. Child birth? Nope. Graduation? No. Marriage? Not even close. Having an intelligent dog is one of life’s few, incomparable joys. Looking for an intelligent dog breed to add to the family? Want to be the envy of other dog owners at the park? As something of a dog expert (I come from a family of dog lovers and grew up with several), I’ll try to help you!

1. American Cocker Spaniel.
These cute little fellas are very intelligent and can be quickly trained. When something goes into their floppy ears, it doesn’t go out the other.

2. Labrador Retriever.
Labs are extremely playful and friendly, as well as tolerant to heat. They love other dogs, pets, and people. They’re very intelligent- among the smartest of breeds.

3. Whippet.
They can’t stand the cold but the heat is fine for them. They aren’t very protective but they love other dogs and pets. Best of all, they’re quite intelligent and respond well to commands.

4. Australian Cattle Dog.
This high-energy dog doesn’t mind the heat but he loves to exercise and play. This breed is very intelligent, easy to train, and good at learning tricks.

5. American Eskimo Dog. (Miniature, Standard, or Toy)
This puffy dog is a quick learner- highly intelligent. It loves to play, especially with other dogs or pets, and makes a great watchdog. All three types make smart pets.

6. Belgian Malinois.
Not very affectionate, but very fast learners. They’re naturally intelligent and enjoy exercising their bodies as well as their minds.

7. Bichon Frise.
These playful little doggies require extra grooming but are very smart. They learn quickly and respond well to verbal commands. However they don’t like to exercise too much.

8. Brittany.
Not too much grooming needed here. Very affectionate and playful- as well as intelligent. You’ll have no trouble training this fella. It also has a lot of energy and likes to exercise.

9. Irish Setter.
Underneath that scruffy hair is a very intelligent little doggy. It needs regular grooming but it will behave itself with only a little training.

10. Canaan Dog.
Another dog that doesn’t require a whole lot of grooming. Very intelligent and responsive to verbal commands as well as gestures, prepare for an easy ride when it comes to training this sweet pooch. It doesn’t like strangers too much though.

I hope this guide proved useful! Remember there are plenty of other dog breeds that could be perfect for you!
