Wood Kingdom – Where the Fun Starts

Swing Sets

When my nephew turned 5 years old my sister invited me to his birthday party at Wood Kingdom. I thought how odd is that? Why would she have his birthday party at a place that sells play sets and swing sets? When I got there I soon realized why she had the party there. What fun for the kids. Not too much fun for the adults though so I just sat and watched. Who knew that in about 4 years I was about to throw my own son his 2nd birthday party at the very same place. Well not exactly the same place. Same chain just a different location.

Now they have so much more to offer though. You can go to Wood Kingdom to play on the play sets and swing sets. You could go to Laser Kingdom and play in the older children arcade. You can go to Hit Kingdom to practice hitting baseballs in your own batting cage. Adults can go to Shed Kingdom and buy a shed for their backyard (not so much fun and very expensive).

When I had my son’s birthday party at Wood Kingdom everyone had so much fun. There were about four huge play sets for the children to go on. You could climb up the ladders go through the tunnels and go down the slides. They are in the process of installing a huge jumping float so the kids can jump around and not get hurt. In the back corner is a pirate ship with a pirate wheel and a slide.

The parties usually include 3 pizzas and lemonade for the children. I chose not to have the cups of lemonade but decided to bring my own juice boxes for the children. I also ordered extra pizza, a hero, and soda for the adults. They were sure to get hungry and thirsty chasing after the kids. My one complaint was the birthday cake. It was tiny. I wish they would have told me that and instead I would have brought my own. It was a little embarrassing when they brought it out and it could barely fit one candle let alone two. Make sure you call a few days in advance so they could order the extra food.

Another mistake I made were the party favors. I chose to get the buckets and have them decorate them with each child’s name. This cost me an extra $2 to decorate each bucket and then another $2 on top of that to fill the bucket. To my horror when I opened the bucket at home, it was filled with tootsie pops and other candy not appropriate for a 2 year old birthday party. Again, I wish I knew this ahead of time. I would have not payed the extra money to fill the buckets I would have brought my own stuff to fill them with more appropriate things. This also call ahead. They need to time decorate the buckets. You also had the option to pick from a water bottle or a visor.

The birthday parties come with a free magic show. I had no idea about this until the man came out and started doing magic. I have to say he was pretty good. He sure fooled me! Another thing that comes with the party is a treasure hunt. This was a little too hard for my son to do but some of the older kids were able to take part in it. They had to hunt for the hidden treasure. I could have paid extra for a pinata but I chose not to. Too advanced for a 2 year old party. They wouldn’t be able to reach it! Maybe next time.

Overall I would say my son and his friends had a blast. One of my girlfriends loved it so much she booked her son’s birthday party before she left. I would say that is a sign of one very successful party. I hope to have another party their for my son when he gets a little older. He really enjoyed it and so did I. I am definitely interested in trying out the Hit kingdom. My son looks like he might have a pretty good swing!
