Why You Should Get a Concealed Weapons Permit

Under the 2nd amendment, citizens of the United States are granted the right to bear arms. You, as a citizen, should really take advantage of this right and get a concealed weapons permit. There are several reasons to get a concealed weapons permit.

First and foremost, it makes protection easy. If you are to be robbed, with no concealed weapons permit and no concealed weapon, you could easily be defenseless. However, with the permit and weapon, this is much less likely. In fact, in the case of most robbers, a simple reach for the back or side holster will scare them away, even though they do not know if you have a weapon. Also, if you are a fan of nonviolence, a little noise will even scare them away. A quick shot to an easily healable area can take down most of these robbers or attackers. They are usually very skittish. Thusly, a concealed weapons permit is the absolute best form of protection.

If you are worried about safety, don’t continue worrying. The permit application is a long and difficult one. You have to take an 8 hour safety course, educating you on proper gun use if you didn’t already know about it. Then, the concealed weapons permit course will make you shoot your new weapon at a close-range target, making sure that you know how to use your new weapon.

A concealed weapons permit can come in handy in many cases. First of all, there was a man I know that had just made a big withdrawal at his home bank. As he looked back, he noticed he was being followed indiscreetly by a suspicious looking person. As he entered his truck, he noticed that the person was speeding up towards the truck. Worried, of course, the man reached for his concealed weapon, which was then in the glove compartment, as they are not allowed in some banks. As he opened the glove compartment, he saw the person stop dead in his tracks, turn around, and begin walking the other way. Some would say this was coincidence, or a case of mistaken identity. I say no. This man was going to rob the other. When he saw the man could defend himself, he decided it wasn’t worth the bodily harm the man was going to put him through. A concealed weapons permit may have saved this man a lot of money.

As we shopped in a gun store for a .380 pistol for my mother’s Christmas present, I saw the biggest reason for a concealed weapons permit. Some thugs walked in, acting like they were very tough. They immediately walked straight to the Uzi and Mac-11 section. For those of you who are not familiar with these terms, these are fully automatic, very lethal pistols. They are mostly used for murder weapons with gang relations. I don’t want to walk down a street, defenseless, when people like this have guns of this caliber. I don’t care if you are a gun advocate or not, you don’t want to be defenseless.

Placement of a concealed weapon is key. With the concealed weapons permit, you must not be able to tell the weapon is there. Usually, this is not too difficult. You would learn all the rules in the concealed weapons class. The biggest tip for ladies is that you never want to put the weapon in your purse. As soon as your purse is stolen, your defense is stolen with it. Also, if the purse-snatcher is a higher-level criminal, your weapon could be used for murder, and then the registration would point to you, making you a suspect. This is a good reason to keep the concealed weapon elsewhere on your body.

Your right to carry a weapon cannot be revoked unless you are a criminal, and you need to use this right. A concealed weapons permit is great for protection. Even people who hate guns cannot dispute this fact.
