Why We Should Be Proud to Be Americans

American Pride

American pride is one of our strongest traits because there is much to be proud of for Americans. The United States of America is one of the greatest nations to exist on the planet. The United States has been and always will be one of the strongest republic governments. The legacy and the significance of the United States is one that many citizens take for granted.

Here are just a few of the reasons that we should be proud to call the United States our home.

1. We are free

Freedom is one of the amazing traits of America and it is our greatest legacy. Many Americans take their freedom and their rights for granted and forget that many nations around the world are far from being free. Freedom is the foundation of what makes our nation so strong and so great. Our freedom is what makes us so appealing and it is also what infuriates countries that do not value freedom.

Think about all of the things that freedom grants us that many nations do not experience. We have the right to worship how we please without interference from the government. Across the globe there are people right now suffering torture and imprisonment for their faith. We have the freedom of speech and even criticize our own government. When we hear people saying things that we do not personally agree with, it should remind us we have the right to speak out. We have the right to bear arms and defend our homes. We have the freedom to vote and have a say in our government. We have the freedom to write and express our opinions through media, such as the internet.

2. We have an amazing heritage

There is an amazing heritage that is connected with the United States. Our nation won its freedom through a hard fought war with the world power of the day. Not only did the United States win its freedom from British rule but also was able to create a new nation. The Revolutionary War was merely one aspect of the revolution that took place. The forming of a new nation, a new government and a new system of leadership for the country. The reality is staggering but it is our heritage as Americans.

3. We have changed the fabric of history

Think about the heritage of the United States for just a moment. What would the world be like today, if the United States did not exist? The United States has made more than a few significant contributions to world history and to society. Some of the greatest innovations in history have come from the United States. Everything from the lightening rod to the automobile. Everything from penicillin to artificial hearts. The United States has been a leader in innovation.

The United States has also defended our freedom and the freedom of the entire world. Can we even imagine what the world would be like if the United States did not enter World War II? Do we want to think about what our world would be like if the United States had not stood against communist aggression? The world is a better place today because of the United States of America. Many of the European countries who complain about the United States owe their freedom and their nation to our involvement in the World Wars. Many more nations owe their lowered threat of global terrorism to the efforts of the United States.
