Eric Carle was born in Syracuse, New York in 1929. He is a genius when it comes to children’s literature. He is a brilliant children’s Author and illustrator with the ability to turn a simple storyline into a magical experience for children. When I buy books for children, Eric Carle is always at the top of my must have list.

Eric Carle creates colorful characters that are easy to fall in love with. From his “Very Busy Spider,” to his “Grouchy Ladybug,” it is evident that his books will become part of the great classics that children will grow to love, and eventually want to share with their own kids someday.

One of the very first books that I read by Eric Carle was “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” As I turned the pages of this well crafted, and wonderfully illustrated book, I knew that this man was something special in the world of children. The words of this book flowed effortlessly across the pages.

Children are captivated when they hear stories from this writing genius. The words of Eric Carle’s children books are easy to understand. As the colorful characters overcome difficulties like finding a lost cat, spinning a web, or just being grouchy, young children seem to relate to each character.

Eric Carle is famous for bringing life to the insect characters in a lot of his children’s stories. It is extremely difficult to get me interested in the life of a bug, but Eric Carle managed to do it. His stories have me sympathizing with the struggles of every insect in his stories.

Every once in a while you come across authors who are naturally gifted. They have the God given talent to make writing seem like no big deal. Anybody who has ever written anything resembling a story, knows that this is not the case.
