What’s to Become of Neverland Ranch?

Amusement Park Rides, Children Parties

Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California, could be auctioned off March 19 unless the almost $25 million debt on the ranch is settled before then. In 1987, Michael Jackson bought the 2,800-acre estate and built a private zoo and amusement park. Neverland Ranch has not been in operation since 2006. So if Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch should be auctioned what should be done with it?

Here are a few of my ideas:

A museum dedicated to Michael Jackson: As strange as Michael Jackson has been, he is obviously well-loved. There are many people who would love to see the Neverland Ranch. They could have tours of the ranch, and have an area dedicated to Michael Jackson and his career. They could have some of his different popular costumes, and other memorabilia. It would be a perfect place for any Michael Jackson fans.

A haunted ranch: With everything that has been rumored to have happened at the Neverland Ranch it isn’t a far stretch to think it might be haunted. They could have tours of the ranch, and get some ghost hunters to come out and tell people about the spirit presences that they feel on the ranch. This would be an excellent money maker during Halloween, where they could have it all set up with ghosts and monsters similar to Knotts Scary Farm.

A zoo: It would obviously work well as a zoo since this is what it once was. They could bring back the animals and open it to the public. It would get a lot of people coming to it because they would want to see Neverland Ranch. The zoo could specialize in exotic animals that you wouldn’t necessarily see at typical zoo’s. They could host children’s parties, and even weddings.

A free park: They could take the time to restore the park to what it once was with the animals and the amusement park rides, and then they could re-open it as a park free for everybody. It would make it a nice place for people to take their families with out having to spend tons of money. Many people would appreciate being able to go to a Disneyland type amusement park for free. There are many families that would love to do things like that but couldn’t afford it unless it was free. To make the money to keep it running they could charge to have weddings there, and they could also charge to have celebrity events.

A children’s charity: This is my favorite idea. They could donate the park to a children’s Charity, like The Make a Wish Foundation. They could restore the park with the amusement park rides and the zoo, and they could let the children go there. They could add small condos, so that the children and their families could stay there for a couple weeks. This way the kids and their families could have a chance to get away from their regular lives and dealing with their sickness. The Charity could also make extra money by opening the park to the public when not in use. This would be a nice thing to see happen, after all the controversy and bad stigma surrounding the ranch it would be nice to see it give back to children.

I highly doubt any of these things would happen. My guess is if the Neverland Ranch does get auctioned off, it will remain closed to the public. It will probably be completely tore down and become something else. Or it might remain there and be a private estate for some very rich person.
