Do you know what women’s motorcycle chaps are? Chaps are a fashion statement. Chaps are trendy and very cool. Chaps are a safety feature, too, and the right chaps can make you look your best when riding your bike down the road.
If you’ve never seen chaps before, or aren’t sure if you have, I’m going to have to paint a mental picture for you. Imagine you have a pair of leather pants that are a size or so too big on you. Take those pants and cut out the abdominal area and the butt. Then cut straight down the back of them (or the inseam, you choose) and attach leather ties up both sides of the cuts.
Now, go put on your favorite pair of tight blue jeans. Yes, they have to be the tight ones; otherwise the chaps will just look stupid. Now put on your cut out leather pants over the jeans and tie the legs together with the tie strings you attached. You are now mentally wearing women’s motorcycle chaps.
You don’t have to make your own women’s motorcycle chaps. In fact, they probably won’t look very good if you’ve never even seen chaps before. But you can go buy some. You’re not going to find them at your favorite women’s clothing store at the mall. Energie and Remy won’t have any chaps for you to try on. You will find chaps, however, at the mall in the Wilson’s Leather store. And, if you’re lucky, they’ll have one of their weekly (it seems) clearance sales going on.
Women’s motorcycle chaps come in leather, suede or lambskin (very soft) and the leathers can be colored in any hue you desire. You can find plain chaps or chaps with long fringe down the outside legs. You can buy chaps that have stitching reminiscent of designer jeans. Don’t worry about getting the chaps that other people will find appealing, get the ones you like because a woman who wears chaps is a woman who is bold enough to not care much whether anyone but her likes them anyway.
If you’re like me, you don’t much care for the shopping mall scene. I much prefer the local Harley Davidson shop for my motorcycle attire. But chaps are very pricey at the specialized motorcycle shops, so bring the credit cards with you if you plan to buy there.
Another of my favorite places to find women’s leather motorcycle apparel are those liquidation type sales. You know the ones I’m talking about, where the guy on TV is screaming through the advertisement about video cameras for $19.99 and parking is FREE! Even though they are screaming about cheap electronics, there are almost always several leather wholesale stands at these places.
These stands have an incredible amount of leather clothing and goods that you are not going to find at just any retail store. And, the prices there are unbeatable, but you have to be fast because everyone in town looking for women’s motorcycle chaps will try to get there first.
