West Virginia Tourism to Launch Innovative Contest Called “Answer the Call”

West Virginia, WV

West Virginia has always been a well-hidden secret when it comes to breathtaking vacations and getaways. With its abundant natural resources and pristine landscape, West Virginia is the perfect destination for anyone who yearns for a memorable outdoor excursion.

If all of this wasn’t already enough, there is now another new, innovative, and fun reason to visit West Virginia. The West Virginia Department of Tourism has launched a contest called “Answer the Call” in which visitors of the state can submit video footage of their trip and possibly win a new 2008 Camry Hybrid.

West Virginia is central and close to many large cities on the eastern seaboard. In particular, those who reside around the Washington D.C. area are a target group. According to Betty Carver, WV Department of Tourism Commissioner, the goal of this campaign is to increase awareness in these larger areas and let the residents of these cities know that the Mountain State is the premier location for a weekend getaway from the urban grind.

“West Virginia is the perfect solution for people looking for an escape from their everyday stressful lives,” Carver said in a press release. “With time-poverty being at an all time high, we believe it is even more important than ever for people to get away and experience all the Mountain State has to offer.”

Liz Chewning, West Virginia state travel director, said in the same press release, “We hope people take advantage of this exciting opportunity to both explore West Virginia and participate in this innovative contest.”

Those who are interested in entering this contest can go to www.WVisCalling.com starting in mid-July and upload any video footage from their recent West Virginia trip. It can be based on scenery, action, or just funny moments. We are looking for breathtaking views, exciting journeys, interesting dialogue and funny adventures caught on video,” Chewning explained. The site will also be available simply for viewing the vast collection of videos participating in the contest.
