Golf. It’s a game you love to hate. But when you love golf, you really, really love the game. Many brides and grooms want to personalize their wedding day to incorporate the hobbies and passions they share as a couple. Let’s get creative with ideas for bringing your love of golf into the decorations and theme of your wedding day.
Pick a Style
A golf themed wedding can be taken in many different directions and can dictate the style of your special day. You can lean towards the putt-putt golf end of things or you can lean towards the up scale country club end of the spectrum of golf. Putt-putt golf would be an excellent starting point if you want a whimsical wedding in a casual atmosphere. Location
The location of your wedding can set the mood you want to portray. An outdoor ceremony held on the 9th green could be beautiful and fun. Golf courses are always well manicured and set in a beautiful natural setting, so it would be the perfect backdrop for a romantic wedding and require minimal additional decor`. A country club or golf club house would make a great location for the reception. There are reception facilities that overlook picturesque views of a golf course. Choose your location carefully so it will coordinate with your golf themed wedding.
Consider a Motif
Once you decide on a style, it’s time to find a motif that you can use throughout your stationary, invitations, napkins and decorations. Some people even choose to have a custom logo designed with their monogram, theme and/or wedding colors. But an elegant piece of clipart will work nicely if you don’t want a custom logo design. This will help tie all your decorations together and support the theme.
Invitations
Get your guests ready for your themed wedding by incorporating your golf theme into your invitations. Use your golf logo or motif at the top of your invitation to begin your theme. You can also change the wording of a traditional invitation and add your own flair to the text to support your theme. Activities
Don’t forget about the game of golf itself. Many weddings stretch over a long weekend starting on Friday morning with the gathering of the wedding party for activities.
