Walt Disney World for Kids: Grand Adventures in Cooking

Cooking with Children, Grand Floridian

Disney’s Grand Adventures in Cooking is a special program that offers children the chance to practice their cooking skills while enjoying a few hours of Disney fun. The Grand Adventures in Cooking program is held at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World.

Disney’s Grand Adventures in Cooking Details

Children between 4 and 10 years old may attend one of Disney’s Grand Adventures in Cooking programs at the Grand Floridian Resort. Reservations are required in advance. This Disney program is designed for children who have an interest in cooking, baking, or having some fun in the kitchen. Budding young chefs will enjoy the Disney version of a basic cooking class for younger children.

The cost for Disney’s Grand Adventures in Cooking is $28.17 plus tax ($30.01), and includes a supervised cooking lesson, apron, chef’s hat, and samples of the day’s culinary treat. Parents do not attend the program. Disney’s Grand Adventures in Cooking is located at the Mouseketeer Club at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10-11:45 am.

Reservations for Disney’s Grand Adventures in Cooking can be made 180 days in advance by calling (407) WDW-DINE. Advance reservations are strongly encouraged as early as possible, due to the limited spots available in each program.

The Grand Adventures in Cooking Experience

Disney’s Grand Adventures in Cooking is ideal for little cooks and older children who enjoy baking and helping with basic meals. The program is supervised and the cooking adventures are hands-on and fairly simple. There are no complicated recipes to challenge younger children, and most of the preparations are done in advance. Children will mainly engage in the basic recipe steps and preparation during the program. The highlight for many children will be the actual tasting and eating of the Disney treat at the conclusion of the program.

In addition to the actual cooking or baking at Disney’s Grand Adventures in Cooking, children get to create a keepsake apron and chefs hat to take home. Kids can leave a permanent impression of their handprints on the apron to remember their Disney adventure in cooking.

Parents have a chance to explore the Grand Floridian Resort while their children are participating in Disney’s Grand Adventures in Cooking. The almost two hour adventure is a nice break for parents to stroll outside, along the pretty Grand Floridian Resort paths or beach. The Grand Floridian Cafe is also a nice choice for breakfast. Plan to return to the Grand Floridian lobby area early to sample some of Grand Adventures in Cooking treats. The little chefs often have the chance to share samples in the lobby with parents and guests.

Disney’s Grand Adventures in Cooking was a hit with my five-year-old, who loved the Worms-in-the-Dirt creation that he made on his Grand Adventure in Cooking. The children are kept busy throughout the program, and the cost is reasonable for a few hours of Disney fun for aspiring young chefs.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort can be reached by the monorail entrance, or by the Grand Floridian/Polynesian Resort Ferry at Magic Kingdom. Parking is available for guests driving to the resort, though it is not necessarily the most convenient. Disney busses offer free transportation to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort from all four Disney theme parks, water parks, and the Downtown Disneyn area.
