Vintage Window Cork Board Shadow Box

This simple vintage window inspired craft creates a shadow box like corkboard that is the perfect way to display all sorts of small things. This simple vintage window shadow box will keep little fingers off of sharp pushpins and add importance to whatever you decide to display!

This simple vintage themes window box is the perfect corkboard to display almost anything. You can even hang the corkboard in your home office and display projects you are working on, business cards, keys, and more!

Screw in hooks along the top inside of the vintage window corkboard and you can hang almost anything in here!!

To Make This Easy Vintage Window Cork Board Shadow Box You will need:

2X4’s
Plywood
Screws
Power drill
Drill bits
Primer
Paint
Picture hanging Hooks (optional)
Paint brushes (in a variety of sizes)
Magnetic door hook
Piano Hinge
Cork Board Roll or sheet
Spray adhesive
Pushpins
Photos, business cards…

Now, the first step is to measure your vintage window. Measure how wide and tall it is.

Use your 2X4’s to build a frame the exact same size. Use you wood screws to screw the pieces of 2X4’s together like a box frame. Predrill the holes for the screws with your power drill to keep the wood from splitting.

Now, cut your plywood to the same size as your vintage window as well.

Screw the plywood onto the back of the wood frame you built. You can do this step gain by predrill holes through the plywood another 2X4″ frame. Insert your screws to hold them together.

Now, attach the vintage window to the front of the box. Do this by install a piano hinge on the left side of the frame. Attach one side to the frame you built and one side of the hinge to the vintage window.

On the right side install your magnetic door hook. You could also use a hook and eye hook like you used to find on old screen doors.

Now, flip the vintage window box five down. Install your picture hanging hooks on the back of the box. They should be attached into the plywood you put on the back.

Now, flip the box back over and lay it on it’s back on a flat work surface.

Now, lightly sand any areas needed on the wooden box.

Wipe away any dust and prime it out.

Now, once the primer has dried you can paint the inside and outside of the Vintage Window Cork Board Shadow Box.

Now, roll out your sheet or roll of corkboard. Cut it off so that it fits snuggly inside of your vintage window shadow box.

Spray some self adhesive to the back of the corkboard. Press it into place inside of the box. You are finished!

You can add some black a white photos, family pictures, and even business cards!

You can also roll a coat of paint onto the cork board if you would like to, it will not keep the push pins from holding any office notes or photographs in place!

If you want to keep the shadowbox cork board hidden all you need to do is paint the panes of glass n the vintage window with some frosting paint. You can buy it at the local home improvement store in the spray paint asile.
