Vatican Releases New List of Seven Deadly Sins

Deadly Sins, Human Cloning, Seven Deadly Sins

The Vatican has released a list of the new seven deadly sins, and it is causing quite a stir, because while the other list of sins was based on individual behaviors this new list of seven deadly sins involves us all on a global scale.

The list of the new seven deadly sins includes taking or dealing drugs, polluting the environment, engaging in genetic science, allowing others to carry out genetic experiments, paedophilia, abortion, and social injustices that cause poverty or “the excessive accumulation of wealth by a few”.

On some levels, I agree with some of the new seven deadly sins, but not all of them. I do not agree that abortion is wrong in every case, if the pregnancy puts the mother’s life at risk, then I feel an abortion is permissible. I however do not feel that abortion, as a birth control method is not permissible as that is morally wrong as that child did not ask to be conceived in any way and is a gift from God.

Yes as we all know dealing drug is a morally bad practice that will get you in legal trouble should you get caught, I agree with that part of the new list of deadly sins. What about the good drugs such as those recognized by the medical society that help people I see no difference made in any of the reports I read for research.

Human cloning is bad and will always be bad but genetic science that changes cells to eliminate certain diseases is a great thing and no one should be penalized for committing that part of the new list of seven deadly sins. As far as letting others carry out these experiments, well I see that as good on one hand for those engaging in human embryo experimentation, but I think this will entice more hate crimes, which could lead to another sin, which of course is murder.

I think the new list of deadly sins was wise to include polluting the environment and paedophilia are a welcome addition to the list. Polluting the environment is detrimental to all of us, while paedophilia, according to The Byte Show, is the ultimate hate crime against children, where by adults sexually exploit children for their own pleasure. Any abuse of children is morally wrong, and is a great addition to this list of seven deadly sins.

I believe the addition of some of these to the new list of seven deadly sins will help the church but there are too many of these so called sins have wide grey areas.

These additions to the new seven deadly sins list will have little effect on me, because I engage in none of them. I do not drive a car, am not drug dealer, nor do I engage in manipulation of human embryos, and I am not rich in anything but the love of my family.

I do not think that making abusing children sexually a sin will change the pedophiles who engage in that type of behavior because those people are already sinning by doing so. Polluting the environment will not stop, because we humans are trying to earn a living to support of families to really care gas emissions and other airborne pollutions.

This new list of seven deadly sins only compares with the old lists of sins in my opinion because they are sins. The original seven deadly sins, which have been around for eons, include lust, gluttony, avarice, sloth, anger, envy, and pride.
