Ty Beanie Babies were invented by Ty Warner. He got the idea for beanies while working at another major Plush Toy factory. The difference in his plush toy creation was that it would be partially filled with plastic pellets commonly referred to as beans like a bean bag. The limited pellets partially filed the body of each plush toy leaving enough space not filled to give the toys a comfortable feeling when held.
The1990’s were marked with a craze for beanies that were produced in limited numbers then retired causing their value to rise. Today, beanies have appeared to take a back seat to toys like Webkinz who have online lives. A nmew beanie line called Ty Girlz were introduced this year and they too have online lives.
There are many old and new beanie collectors. There needed to be an easy and inexpensive way to keep track of the vast collections of some and the growing collections of others who collect Ty products. My Collection, a software based in Excel is the answer. It is important to know however that you must have EXCEL.EXE installed on your computer in order to work with the My Collection programs. Excel Viewers allow you to see the spreadsheet image but will not allow you to make any changes to it. Excel is a Windows based program that runs on IBM compatible computers. My Collection works on Macintosh computers also and on any computer that is running MicroSoft Office software.
