Uristat: The Pain Reliever for Urinary Tract Infections that I Never Leave Home Without

Monistat, Utis

URISTAT®, an over the counter pain reliever from the makers of Monistat, does so much more than suppress the frustrating symptoms and discomfort of a dreaded Urinary Tract Infection (UTI); it restores personal control over your life. This little pill is a savior and liberator from the agonizing misery and paralyzing effects of this common malady experienced by millions of women every year. A Urinary Tract Infection is one of the most agonizing ailments a female can experience; with symptoms so unpleasant, many women classify them as more dreadful than menstrual cramps or even nausea and vomiting.

A few years ago, I started suffering from chronic UTIs – 2 or 3 a month – whose symptoms would literally cripple me and confine me to either my bed or living room couch. The annoyingly constant urge to urinate and the painful burning sensation were so unbearable I would have happily traded them for a bout with the flu. I would have to suffer with this pain until I was able to get in to see my doctor, sometimes a couple of days, and have her write me out a prescription for an antibiotic accompanied by that lovely medicine that turns your urine a neon orange color and stains everything it comes in contact with, including your toilet and expensive underwear; but after 48 hours of sheer discomfort, you are so desperate to have relief from your misery you’re willing to drink your own urine to find solace, so you could care less about some stained lingerie. I like to refer to this medication as radioactive cranberry juice but its scientific name is Phenazopyridine Hydrochloride and it is the active ingredient in URISTAT®.

I discovered URISTAT® after conducting countless hours of online research on UTIs including their causes and common home remedies. I was unaware of the fact that you could purchase the same radio active cranberry juice my doctor had been prescribing me every month for a year over the counter – yeah, thanks for the heads up on that one doc. When I read the reviews about URISTAT® and noticed its active ingredient, I immediately purchased 10 boxes from DrugStore.com. As I anticipated, merely a few days after receiving my URISTAT® order in the mail, I felt the onset of yet another UTI. This time instead of reaching directly for the phone to make an appointment with my doctor, I reached for my URISTAT®. Within 15 minutes of the first dose, I noticed the trademark neon orange urine and as well as almost a complete dissipation of my familiar symptoms. However, as directed, I continued to take the URISTAT® three times a day for two days, after which I was ecstatic to find no traces of my UTI. I felt like an empowered and victorious warrior; I had successfully combated my UTI without the assistance of my doctor – and her expensive office visits and costly prescriptions I might add.

I must assert, however, that URISTAT® is not a cure for a Urinary Tract Infection. UTIs are the result of bacteria (usually E-Coli) and can only be completely eradicated by a prescription antibiotic. Your body often has the ability to combat and even control these bacteria, but should you continue to experience symptoms after two days of taking URISTAT®, it is in your best interest to admit defeat and contact your doctor. Another useful weapon against the UTI dragon is prevention – plenty of fluids including a cup of natural cranberry juice every other day. My combined defense of URISTAT® and cranberry juice has kept me out of my doctor’s office for almost six months now, so I personally stand by this remedy with the genuine evidence of my own triumph.
