Price and Package
Trident Vitality: Awaken gum comes in a gray package with an aquamarine or blue type color border. Trident is written in black with a red half-circle above it near the middle of the package with the word “Vitality” in that same blue-green color in all capitals. To the bottom left of the front of the package is a leaf of what appears to be mint in that same bluish shade. To the bottom right of the package it says: “Awaken. A peppy peppermint with a dash of ginseng.”
The gum sits in a blister seal package inside a light cardboard box. I like the fact that the cardboard package actually closes and doesn’t come open. Often times I’ve had gum sticks in my purse when the gum package was supposed to be closed. The Trident gum does not come in individually packaged sticks, but in small whitish rectangular pieces inside the blister seal package that you push the gum through some foil at the bottom.
At almost a dollar for this pack of gum, it only has nine pieces in it. Admittedly, if I’d have looked at how many pieces of gum were in the package, I doubt I’d have bought it. Unfortunately, I just grabbed the gum without thinking at the check out when making a purchase.
Flavor and Performance
I hate when chewing gum gets too hard and chewy and loses its flavor after only a few minutes of chewing it. I feel like my jaw is going to fall off with some varieties of gum! This chewing gum performs pretty well. It stays a chewy but soft texture and keeps its flavor for much longer than just a few minutes.
The flavor is mostly minty and sweet. I like the flavor. Anyone who likes sweet mint gum will enjoy this variety. As far as waking me up, which I assume the Awaken variety is supposed to do, I don’t really notice any difference. However, in all fairness, I am the type of person that coffee nor energy drinks wake me up, either.
I like the gum, but I prefer gum that comes in a package of 15 sticks for the same price. I am not incredibly picky about my gum.
Nutrition and Additional Information
The serving size for Trident Vitality: Awaken gum is one piece. There are less than 4 calories per piece of gum. There is no fat, sodium, protein, or other significant nutrients provided by this gum.
This gum is sugar free and does contain ginseng, soy, and phenylalanine. It is “naturally and artificially flavored.” It also contains artificial colors.
I wasn’t very impressed with the website, TridentGum.com, when I looked for additional information. It mostly just shows packages of the gum products they manufacture. You can zoom in on the packages and see slogans, catch phrases and other basically useless information. There is no full list of ingredients, although there is a FAQ section that provides umbrella information about all their gums with related health information. As with most companies, they have a Facebook page available, which doesn’t provide too much additional information, either.
This Trident gum is made in Mexico. Trident gum is distributed by Cadbury Adams USA, LLC, Parsippany, New Jersey.
