The container of TRESemme’ Extra Firm Control Hair Gel that I purchased at Wal Mart was located in the Travel and Trial – sized section. The container is approximately 4.5″ x 2″ and it conveniently fits in one’s pocket, purse, glove compartment or almost anywhere. Although I think it is technically a travel size version of the product, this tube contains quite a few applications of hair gel. The net weight of this tube is two ounces. Larger tubes of this product are also available.
Price
The retail price that I paid for one 2 ounce container of TRESemme Extra Firm Control Hair Gel at a Hartford, Connecticut Wal Mart store was $.99c. This price is comparable to similarly – sized containers of other brands of hair gel, but I think that the quality of this hair gel sets it apart from the other brands.
Scent
Something that I noticed right away about TRESemme’ Extra Firm Control Hair Gel is its scent. Through the years, I have utilized many different brands of hair gel and find that most of them feature fairly strong scents that sometimes border on perfumy. It also seems like the lower in quality the gel is, the stronger a scent it possesses.
TRESemme’ Extra Firm Control Hair Gel offers a nice, clean scent that is not at all perfumy. As I write this product review, the container is in front of me and I have smelled the gel several times in the past few minutes, in an effort to accurately describe the fragrance of this item. The most definitive word I can think of, once again, is clean. To me, a faint citrus scent that smells like orange zest is featured, but no strong or over – powering scent is present.
How To Use
It is very easy to use TRESemme Extra Firm Control Hair Gel. Like most other gels, just squeeze some into your hands, then rub them together. This action activates the various ingredients, allowing the gel to work effectively. Next, apply the gel to your hair with your fingers and palms. Try to coat as much of the hair as possible with the gel, then brush or comb the hair, from roots to ends, which helps to more evenly – distribute the product. At that point, style your hair however you desire. It is best to use gel with damp hair.
Effectiveness
I can’t count how many different brands and styles of hair gels I’ve used in the past decade. I have encountered thick and sticky, thin and runny, perfumy, stinky and good and bad hair gels. TRESemme Extra Firm Control Hair Gel really is set apart from most other gels. As soon as I saw the containers of this gel at Wal Mart, I thought that it would be an excellent product, which turned out to be correct.
This hair gel is light and clear and actually feels light in the hair. When I first applied it, I thought it wasn’t really working too well, but really, I had not applied the gel to my hair correctly. After working it through the hair a little more, I tried re – spiking it and it held fairly well. I have been using this product for several days now and I definitely like it. It leaves the hair looking the way you want it, without a stiff or frozen – type appearance.
I have found however, that for me to spike my hair the way intend to, I have to either apply a lot of gel or do it twice. That holds true with virtually every brand of hair gel I have tried, though. That is why I also utilize Hair Glue along with hair gel, now. For 98% of the population’s hair gel needs, this product is very effective. Overall, TRESemme Extra Firm Control Hair Gel is a very good product that offers excellent performance.

TRESemme Extra Firm Control Hair Gel is packaged in a sleek and stylish, glossy – black plastic tube, with a black cap. I must say, the appearance of this item is what first caught my eye. The black tube features a minimal amount of small – print text on the front label and styling suggestions and an ingredient list on the rear label.
Overall Rating
TRESemme Extra Firm Control Hair Gel is a very good product. It is reasonably – priced and because it is a TRESemme product, consumers can be assured of its high quality. This effective hair gel is packaged in an attractive, black plastic tube and it offers a very faint, citrusy scent.
