Top Ten Sawyer from Lost Nicknames

Nicknames

With Lost returning to our screens very soon, I thought it might be fun to look back on the past five seasons and refresh our memories about some of the things that have kept us tuning in over the years! We begin our journey with a look back at my top ten Sawyer nicknames. James ‘Sawyer’ Ford has his own unique way of referring to the other characters on the show, some terms of endearment, some….not so much. Either way, his interesting use of these aliases has been the cause of much laughter in my household so I am going to share my favourites with you.

Top Ten Sawyer Nicknames

1.Ana Lucia aka “Muchacha” (Season 2 Ep20) – On her hunt for the guns, Ana Lucia follows Sawyer to see if she can find the stash. The two become engaged in a struggle and although strong, Sawyer manages to deflect Ana Lucia’s swing at him, leading him to say “What you gonna do now, Muchacha?”

2.Charlie aka “Jiminy Cricket” (Season 3 Ep 10) – This nickname comes about after the discovery of one of the Dharma vehicles. Hurley invites Charlie to join them in their mission to get the van started. In surprise, Sawyer says, “What’s Jiminy Cricket doing here?”

3.Kate aka Freckles (all seasons, many eps!) – Starting as a reference to the freckles on Kate’s face, it eventually becomes a term of affection.

4.Shannon aka “Sticks” (Season 1 Ep 5) – Shannon asks Sawyer for some sun block, and he replies, “You’re in my light, Sticks.” Shannon, not being terribly well known for her brain didn’t understand that he was referring to her thin legs.

5.Hurley aka “Jumbotron”, “Chicken Little”, “Grape Ape” and countless others (All seasons) – There were just too many to narrow it down, but poor Hurley was on the receiving end of many a jibe from Sawyer.

6.Jack aka “Dr Giggles” (Season 2 Ep 18) – Presumably as a dig about Jack’s somewhat grumpy behaviour, Sawyer used this name as Jack approached himself and Kate on the golf course they made.

7.John Locke aka “Captain Kurtz” (Season 2 Ep 4) – When Locke tells the Losties that they need to go to a cabin, Sawyer replies, “You mind telling us who you’re getting your orders from, Captain Kurtz?”. Captain Kurtz is a character from the movie Apocalypse Now, a former member of the United States Army Special forces who had gone insane.

8.Ben aka “Captain Bunny Killer” (Season 3 Ep 9) – Sawyer came up with this nickname after Ben tricked him into thinking he had killed a rabbit.

9.Frank aka “Kenny Rogers” (Season 4 Ep 13) – Frank Lapidus had a rather striking resemblance to the country singer, something that couldn’t possibly go unnoticed by Sawyer!

10. Libby aka “Moonbeam” – After Libby suggests that nobody be in charge of the food, Sawyer, amused that anyone could consider that they should all trust each other, responds “Great plan, Moonbeam, and after that we can sing Kumbaya and do trust falls.”

Sawyer nicknames were, and probably always will be legendary!
