9. A Stylish Rug
Home décor is always a great Christmas gift idea, because one doesn’t have to worry if it will fit the recipient or not. Since you’re her roommate, and you know what her side of the room looks like, it should be fairly easy to pick something out that will compliment what she already has going on. Chances are she’ll appreciate the chance to spice up her environment just a little bit.

8. Dry Erase Board – $20
I live with three other girls, and we have a dry erase board in our living room. It’s helpful because we can easily keep track of each others whereabouts and leave messages for each other. By giving your roommate a dry erase board as a Christmas gift, she can not only leave notes for you but quickly jot down reminders for herself, her work schedule and even important due dates for school products. A dry erase board also comes in really handy when playing games in the room, like Pictionary! Office Depot currently has an 18″ x 24″ dry erase board for $20.

7. A French Memo Board
Over the past year and a half I’ve had six roommates move in and out of my apartment, and every single one of them decorated their walls with a collage of photos and magazine pictures. I guess it’s easy to say that college aged girls love this personal, and affordable way to decorate. But sticking and unsticking pictures to a wall can take it’s toll on precious photographs, and that’s where the French Memo Board comes in. If you’ve never seen one, it’s basically a large quilted board, sectioned off into squares by strips of ribbon. Underneath these strips the owner can place photos, magazine pictures, letters and postcards. It’s definitely a great way to make a collage with a touch of class.

6. A Fondue Set – $21.95
Why not? You’re roommate will totally dig this retro, blast from the past Christmas gift. It makes for a great way to socialize without spending money on take out. She will also be able to do a bit of cooking with it, and make fun recipes such as chocolate dipped strawberries, who doesn’t love those? Crate & Barrel has a variety of different fondue sets, ranging from $12.95 for dessert fondue, to $100 for the works. You’re roommate will probably be happy with the functional $21.95 version which works with chocolate and cheese.

Yes, you read that correctly. The giant cosmetics retailer Sephora has it’s own version of the game Monopoly; and as expected, it’s all about make up. This makes for a unique and fun gift, the type your roommate would probably never buy for herself, and those always make for the best Christmas gifts. Best of all, this is something you and your roommate can enjoy together and bond over.

4. The Desk Apprentice – $30
You might remember a square, futuristic desk organization contraption that was created on the reality TV show The Apprentice a few years back. The Desk Apprentice has multiple pockets to hold items as small as pencils and post-its, to larger items note pads, folders, a deck of computer paper, and even a book or two. On top of that, the whole thing comes mounted on a lazy Susan for quick access to all the different compartments. I think the Desk Apprentice is a must have for any student, but if you’re roommate doesn’t already have one, I’m sure she’ll appreciate it as a Christmas gift, especially if she’s a bit on the unorganized side. And as an added perk you’ll no longer have to deal with her stuff being all over your side of the desk.

3. Exercise Ball and/or Resistance Cords

Giving anyone a gift related to exercise can be tricky because you don’t want to offend the other person, so definitely use good judgment with who you give this gift to. But chances are you have a roommate who is in pretty good shape but often talks about wanting to tone up more, or needing to exercise more often. As we all know, gym memberships can be expensive, but they’re also becoming obsolete now that it’s so easy to create a home gym. Believe it or not, an exercise ball and resistance cords can each give a person a full body workout. And the best part is neither is as cumbersome as a treadmill; this Christmas gift can easily be tucked away in a closet or even a drawer.

2. Frederik Fekkai Travel Faves Set – $40
Girls love to keep their hair looking great at all times, but on a college student’s budget, going to a high end salon is pretty much out of the question. Last year I bought a few Frederik Fekkai products for my roommate and she absolutely loved them. Fekkai has two travel sets; one for color and one for gloss. Each comes with three or four different products, a carrying pouch and a comb. Your roommate will love this Christmas gift, especially if she has champagne taste on a beer budget.

Any girly girl will love a set for the new line of Pink! sleepwear. Each set comes with a comfy graphic tank top and patterned, cotton drawstring bottoms. There are twelve different styles to choose from, and that’s the fun part. The coordinated styles range froma girly skull, a 60s theme, candy, bows, cherries and a ton of others in the bright and vibrant colors girls love.
