Top Plus Size Bras Under $30

Playtex, Plus Size, Underwire

Plus size bras can be an expensive proposition for the buxom. Most plus size women need extra support, and that support comes at a premium. But there’s good news! Plus size bra designers have more offerings than ever before, most of them have been improved for comfort, and many are on sale now.

To get you started on the road to purchasing plus size bras on a budget, here’s a list of the top plus size bras under $30.

  1. Playtex 18 Hour Comfort Strap Wirefree Bra. Just My Size has one of the most extensive selections of plus size bras in the industry, which they regularly place on sale. Currently, they’re offering this best-selling plus size bra for $13.99. Sold in a variety of useful colors, the Playtex 18 Hour Comfort Strap Wirefree Bra is a best-selling plus size bra for a reason: it’s designed for comfort and support. Shoulder-straps are wide to prevent stress and strain. Contoured side-panels take into account plus size curves. And the level of support that this bra provides without an underwire is almost magic.
  2. Goddess® All Over Lace Wirefree Support Bra. While this plus size bra offers less “give” than others on the market, there is perhaps, no budget-conscious plus size bra that will provide more support than the Goddess line. The three-section nylon lace cups shape and lift beautifully. With light boning in the side, and a wide color selection, this may just become your favorite bra to wear under every dressy outfit. The wide under-the-breast band won’t dig into your skin, and will keep your posture straight, but the unforgiving straps and higher price-tag are a drawback. (This bra is also sold at JMS for under $30, in different color selections.) Even so, you’d be hard pressed to find a harder working plus size bra, so shop around.
  3. Glamorise® Magic Lift® Soft Shoulder Wirefree Back Close Bra. More expensive than its close cousin, the Playtex 18 hour bra, this plus size bra offers every day support without wires. It also offers a selection of interesting, if not entirely useful colors. (The blue is lovely, but nude would be handier.) Selling for about $27, the Glamorise brand tends to be popular because of its slight breast minimizing shape. Well-designed and no-nonsense, this plus size bra is perfect for everyday wear, but one might consider purchasing it in a size just under that which is recommended, because it prioritizes comfort above support-and will sag slightly over time.
  4. Sateen sculpted full-coverage underwire bra. This Cacique plus size bra from Lane Bryant only squeaks onto the list because they are currently offering a buy one get one for ½ price sale, which reduces the price of each under $30. For plus size women who prefer an underwire, and even for those who shy away, this bra is worth a try. Plus size women often have ample chests, and tend to avoid padded bras with a dismissive laugh. As it turns out, that can be a mistake. New designs use the padding to sculpt and shape the silhouette of your breasts under your clothes in flattering ways. This very lightweight plus size bra provides amazing lift, and the designers have ensured that you won’t be stabbed by the underwires as you move. Beautiful coverage, curve hugging support, and a broad range of sizes make this plus size bra a winner.
  5. Champion® Plus Natural Contour Comfort Zip Sport Top Bra. Every plus size woman should have at least one sports bra in her drawer, and if you can have only one, Champion’s Natural Contour Comfort Zip is the one to have. Many plus size sports bras simply smush your breasts against your ribs to keep them in place, while giving you a boxy shape under your clothing. This plus size bra has molded cups inside to provide better shape and support. It is designed for strenuous workouts, and can stand up to the strain of larger frames. The zipper makes it easy to put on, the design also ensures that your straps won’t slip down your shoulders, and the racer back will help with your posture. It’ll run you about $28, but you’ll really only need one.

Armed with this list, you should be prepared to lavish attention on the most neglected part of a plus sized wardrobe: your foundation garments. And you won’t break the bank in the process of buying the perfect plus size bra.
