Top Men’s Tailors in Boulder, Colorado

Men's Clothes, Men's Custom Tailors

When my fiance needed a suit, it was obvious he would need some serious tailoring. After all, it’s not easy to fit a 6’4″ broad-chested man right off the rack. In fact, many men have issues finding a well-fitting suit. Getting the arms to fit and the jacket to button can be tricky for many. Lucky for my fiance, Boulder has a variety of good men’s tailors. Two have stood out from the pack in the times he’s needed a tailor.

A Fitting Place

Hours: M-F 10-5, Saturday 10-2

While this spot is a little out of the way in extreme North Boulder, it’s well worth the trip. The staff is very knowledgeable and the tailor is top-notch. The suit really did look custom-made after they were done with it! It was impossible to tell the difference between the original seams and the new ones. The threads matched perfectly, as did the nearly-invisible stitching. They also offer many other services, including wedding dress alterations, so this location would be perfect for a couple needing alterations on a set of outfits (like we had). They also do minor repairs on clothing (like buttons and zippers), which can save you money on buying all-new clothes.

Sew Good Alterations

2500 30th St

Suite 150

Boulder, CO 80301

(303) 440-0225

Hours: M-F 10:30-6, Saturday 10-3

I first thought to go to Sew Good Alterations because it’s right near my workplace. The location is definitely an easy one for anyone in the city of Boulder, though parking can sometimes be difficult. The tailor here definitely knows her way around men’s clothing. Her work on both pieces of the suit was great, and the pants alone were worth the trip. it’s probably best to stick to men’s clothes though, as the work on the dress we gave her did not come out at the same high quality level.

There are a few rules to remember when you go to a tailor to have clothes fitted.

– Let them know up front if you have a deadline for your clothes to be done. Even the best tailors (especially the best tailors!) can get bogged down with work and turnaround time can suffer.

– Ask about cost for each individual piece. Different projects can have very different prices, even when they’re similar.

– Make sure to get what you’re expecting in writing from the tailor. Both the services discussed here made sure we got receipts and expectations in writing, but it’s always good to make doubly sure. Then, if the result ends up differing wildly from your expectations, you have something to work with.
