One of the most integral parts of a wedding is the music. From before the ceremony to the wedding reception, many of your guests will have a lasting memory of the fun to be had at the reception. A good wedding DJ or wedding band is a key part of the event! If you’re getting married in the greater Memphis metropolitan area, a good place to start looking for your wedding DJ or band is at the Memphis Wedding DJ website. This site has a good comprehensive listing of DJ’s and bands in the area to include contact information and websites (if online). The following are reviews of five Memphis, Tennessee area wedding Dj’s and bands.
1. Germantown DJ
Germantown Mobile DJ provides services in the Greater Memphis and Shelby County area. Unlike some other DJ’s who try and run their business as cheaply as possibly, Germantown Mobile DJ is fully insured, uses licensed music only, and is a member of the American Disc Jockey Association. Their prices are very reasonable and they charge by a flat rate. For weekends the charge is $650 for up to five hours with holidays and downtown locations running a little higher. Non-holiday, weekday prices run $550 for up to four hours of play. Germantown DJ does travel to outlying areas, but will charge a $175 surcharge if they have to provide their own power. Upon booking, a $200 deposit must be paid with the balance due at the event. Germantown DJ has nothing but positive reviews and is recommended for weddings of any type.
2. Jam Factory (DJ or Band)
Jam Factory is another local Memphis DJ available for weddings. They provide an online music database for the customer to hand pick out songs to be played during the event. The entire play list can be built by the customer (maximum of 300 songs), or just certain songs picked out for play at the wedding. Jam Factory is also insured and provides an online availability checker as well as quote provider. If you are looking to have a primarily R+B and / or hip hop based music theme, Jam Factory may be the DJ for your wedding in the Memphis area.
3. RAM Entertainment
RAM Entertainment is another Memphis based wedding entertainment provider that specializes more in Blues, R+B, other classical music varieties. They offer to help more with the planning side of the event than the other DJ’s as well, but do not provide as much information on their website as other companies do with respect to cost, length of time, etc. Instead, RAM entertainment prefers to tailor the entertainment experience to the individual and discuss price after the first discussion. In some ways this is nice, but in today’s market, many customers will not do business with a company that doesn’t at least give an idea on how much the service costs without a referral. Recommendation is to at least get to the first enquiry with RAM Entertainment when trying to narrow down your wedding music if Blues or R+B is what you are after.
4. The Plantiffs (Wedding Band)
The Plantiffs are one of the popular party bands for use in events in the Memphis area. They provide a mix of dance and party hits along with a repertoire of popular cover songs. A very experienced band, they also play the weekly gig at TJ Mulligans on North Main Street and occasionally at other venues if you want to listen to their music live before thinking of hiring the band. The website provides the consumer with a long term band schedule in addition to an event inquiry form that can be submitted for a price quote. Nothing but good reviews are out there on The Plantiffs and are highly recommended if a wedding band is what you are looking for!
5. Other Memphis DJ’s
A couple of the other DJ’s with good reputations in the Memphis area are: F M Disc Jockey Services, Robin Scott Productions, and Tom Gurley. Unfortunately none of these Dj’s are online, but provide the initial price quote via phone and / or in person meeting.
