Top 5 Ways to Use Lemons as Wedding Centerpieces

Are you looking for a fresh, visually stunning and inexpensive centerpiece to use at your wedding this summer? If so, you may want to consider using lemons. Here’s a quick rundown on five of the best ways to do just that:

Sliced Lemons with Flowers

Slice lemons and place them inside a vase filled with water and top it off with flowers. You may opt to go with all yellow flowers or mix it up a bit and use white flowers as well. Personally, I love using a combination of yellow and white lilies with my sliced lemon centerpieces. I have also found that daffodils, yellow roses and hydrangeas look nice as accent flowers too.

Lemon and Floral Wreaths

Prefer not to go with vases? Why not consider creating a lemon and floral wreath? You could jazz it up with tulle or other accents. Based on my experience, it isn’t that expensive to make one either. You can typically buy a bolt of tulle for less than $20 and wreath forms are often sold for less than $2 a pop. A case of lemons will generally cost you around $120.

Dried Lemon Garland

If you don’t like the idea of using fresh lemons, why not consider creating a dried lemon garland? You might even want to throw in a few other dried fruits like apples and limes. The garland can be wrapped around pillar candles, tall vases or draped along the sides of your banquet tables. Providing that it is alright with the church, you might even want to use dried lemon garland to decorate the church’s pews or a wedding ceremony arbor.

Lemon Table Runner

For those long banquet tables, why not create a runner made from lemons and greenery? In my opinion, it looks amazing and smells wonderful. It would also pair well with a lemon inspired menu and a lemon inspired wedding cake. Believe it or not, you can buy lemon leaves in bulk, online. Some restaurants and citrus farmers are also more than happy to sell lemon leaves to those that have a need for them. Prices for the lemon leaves will vary.

Sugar Frosted Lemons in a Bowl

Looking for something really interesting? I’d suggest placing frosted lemons inside a hurricane glass and using it as a centerpiece. You could also add leaves or shiny metal and glass colored baubles to dress it up even more. Of course adding tulle to the bowl is also an option. Giving the lemons a frosted look is easy to do. Simply use a pastry brush to coat the lemon with light corn syrup and then roll it into the granulated sugar.

Once you’re done, you’ll need to store them in a cool, dry place. I’d recommend that you store them on a wax paper-lined tray inside the refrigerator or freezer until right before the wedding. That’s what I normally do when I am using sugared fruits for a party. I have found that keeping the pieces of fruit from rubbing up against each other tends to help keep the sugar in tact longer.
