Top 5 Vacations for Singles on a Budget

Machu Picchu, Maid of the Mist

Taking a summer vacation can be daunting, especially when you’re single and on a budget. This article is going to count down the top 5 budget-friendly vacations to take this summer, leaving you no worries and nothing but fun.

5. Peru
The Incan ruins at Machu Picchu is the biggest attraction in Peru, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only thing to see. There’s colonial cities, whitewater rafting, and hiking in the mountains and rain forests. Meals in Peru are incredibly affordable, never over $5. You’ll probably pay about $60 to stay in the city of Lima, but if you’re willing to go outside the cities rates will be considerably lower. If you have a bit of money to splurge on one thing, I recommend the Rainforest Expeditions at http://www.perunature.com/pages/prices.htm. You can enjoy a 3 day, 2 night expedition for about $300-400, which includes lodging. Check out the local fauna and flora and take in the amazingly beautiful amazonian views. If you do decide to see the ruins at Machu Picchu, you’ll have the option of going on foot, taking a train, or hopping on a bus. Hiking is definitely the most enjoyable experience you’ll get. You can even take a tent along with you and camp out near the ruins of an ancient Incan city.

4. Roatan Island
Roatan is one of the Honduras Bay Islands located in the Caribbean near the second largest barrier reef in the world. It has probably some of the best beaches and sites in the entire Caribbean Sea. If diving, snorkeling, and beach-going are your type of things, head to Roatan. Once you arrive in Roatan you can usually rely on the taxi and water taxi services, which are fairly affordable, negotiable, and don’t expect tipping. At the West End area of the island you can also get your fill of restaurants, bars, and live music. This is the best area for snorkeling. If you plan to head to the beaches go to the West Bay. When you’re ready to sleep for the night be prepared to pay anywhere between $4 and $400, although I recommend sticking to the $40-$50 range. While you’re in Roatan check out the Butterfly Garden, horseback riding on the beach, the Microbrewery, and take a kayak trip around the island.

3. Niagara Falls.
There’s so much to do for singles in Niagara Falls, but your first stop should be Niagara Falls itself. Go on the Maid of the Mist, as well as the Cave of the Winds. Be prepared to get wet, and have a lot of fun. The Seneca-Niagara Casino is brand new, and may interest many people that enjoy a bit of gambling. It’s only a short walk from the Falls. There’s even Mob Tours, which are sightseeing tours of former crime family hideouts and homes. Definitely invest in the “Passport to the Falls” for $30 which grants admission to the Cave of the Winds, Maid of the Mist, the Niagara Adventure Theater, Aquarium of Niagara, the trolley, wine tours, museum, and much more. A good place to eat on a budget is the Misty Dog Grill, which has tons of options. When you head to Niagara Falls you can expect to pay about $40 a night.

2. Argentina
Argentina is a beautiful country with an exciting nightlife that’ll appeal to a single person on a vacation. The food and wine is amazing, and due to Argentina’s economic collapse, bargains are everywhere. You can expect to spend about $30 on delicious meals and taking in the scenery. It’s one of the best places for singles to enjoy a different culture, great food, and a thrilling nightlife.

1. Thailand
Thailand is the best place for singles to vacation on a budget. The Oriental, which is often named as one of the best hotels in the world, goes for under $300 a night. For those on a budget, check out the bungalows on the beach for $20 and under. There’s something for absolutely everyone in Thailand, from elephant rides, to floating fruit markets, magnificent temples to beautiful beaches. There are half a dozen national parks in Thailand, as well as a marine park in Surat Thani Province. While in Thailand, you can get around pretty well using their extensive bus system. With all the modern convienences, historic sites, culture, and low cost, Thailand comes in at the top of the list.www.maidofthemist.com/
