Top 5 Sunflower Themed Party Favors for Children

Pbj, Sunflower Seeds

Are you in the process of planning a sunflower themed children’s birthday party? If so, I have a handful of sunflower themed party favor ideas that you may want to consider. Here they are:

Edible Sunflower Seeds

One of the nice things about throwing a sunflower themed birthday party is that you can use assorted, edible sunflower seeds as party favors. I’d suggest that you consider buying a case of yogurt coated sunflower seeds, chocolate coated sunflower seeds, salted sunflower seeds and unsalted sunflower seeds. Once you have all the sunflower seeds on hand, mix them up and place them into sunflower clad cellophane bags. If you can’t find sunflower bags, try making your own out of cellophane wrap, raffia and a faux sunflower.

Sunflower Chocolates

Chocolates in the shape of sunflowers would also make a super birthday party favor. I’d suggest that you either create sunflower lollipops and bunch them together as if they were a bouquet or make just the tops of the sunflowers and package them in little boxes or clay flower pots stuffed with green tissue paper.

In order to make the sunflower candies, you’ll need to invest $2 in a sunflower candy mold. You’ll also need two bags of candy melts (one yellow, one brown), a bag of lollipop sticks and packaging materials. Candy making supplies and candy packaging materials are typically available for purchase through restaurant or confectionary supply shops. You can also traditionally purchase sunflower clad tissue paper through specialty paper shops.

Sunflower Cookies

In my opinion, sunflower cookies would make an excellent party favor for children. They are easy enough to make. All you’ll need is a sunflower shaped cookie cutter, colored icing and packaging material. If you purchase a metal sunflower cookie cutter, you can also use it to make sunflower shaped sandwiches. I have found sunflower cookie cutters at various restaurant and kitchen supply shops for $5.

Sunflower Bubbles

Depending on the ages of the party guests, you may want to consider creating a batch of sunflower bubbles. In order to make sunflower bubbles, you’ll need to purchase a case of blank, mini bubble containers with built-in wands. They are often available through party supply shops for less than $1 apiece. You’ll also need either paints and a paintbrush or a few silk sunflowers and a glue gun. Once you have the bubble bottles on hand, decorate them. You can either glue faux sunflowers or hand paint sunflowers onto the bottles.

If you don’t want to go with the mini bubbles, you may want to consider purchasing oversized bubble wands, rolled plastic and a glue gun. After you have all your supplies in one place, cut sunflower shaped petals out of the rolled plastic and glue them onto the outer rims of the large bubble wands. Once you are done gluing on the faux petals, the oversized wands will resemble large sunflowers. A case of 24 wands will tend to cost you $24 and the rolled plastic usually sells for $2.

Sunflower Head Bands

Sunflower head bands, hair combs, hair ribbons and hair clips would also make great birthday party favors. I’d recommend that you purchase blank, plastic head bands from a jewelry or craft supply store and make your own sunflower hair accessories. The plastic headbands tend to sell for less than $1 apiece. The fabric sunflowers often sell for $1 apiece.
