Top 5 Scary Movies of 2009

It’s getting to the end of the year which means two things are becoming popular, scary movies and best of 2009 lists. Why not combine those two things for a top 5 scary movies of 2009 list. Not all the scary movies of 2009 were great and like usual there were many boring rehashes of old classics. But there were at least five scary movies in 2009 worth recommending.

Top 5 Scary Movies of 2009: A Perfect Getaway
A Perfect getaway is about a married couple that decided to go hiking in Hawaii for their honeymoon. Along the way the couple hear a story about another couple that was recently killed while hiking. The couple then have to be very careful who they meet the rest of the trip. If you’re not a fan of scary movies then this one might not be for you but it should satisfy the horror movie fans.

Top 5 Scary Movies of 2009: Orphan
Orphan is another scary movie that I don’t recommend to all viewers but it is a good choice if you like scary movies. Orphan is a scary movie about a married couple named John and Kate. This John and Kate is plus three, not eight (that is a much scarier story). When John and Kate’s third child is stillborn they decide to adopt an orphan. This is a scary movie so of course the kid is all crazy and evil.

Top 5 Scary Movies of 2009: Paranormal Activity
Paranormal Activity was the big success of the Halloween season. Paranormal Activity was made for a paltry $15,000 but has already made $61 million and in its 4th weekend out it out grossed Saw VI in its opening week. In Paranormal Activity a woman claims that her house is haunted by a ghost. Her boyfriend sets up a camera to film them while they are sleeping and he ends up recording several paranormal phenomenons. Paranormal Activity is getting great reviews and it is a scary movie everybody should see.

Top 5 Scary Movies of 2009: My Bloody Valentine 3D
My Bloody Valentine 3D is one of the few movies that successfully uses the 3D technology and it is actually a good remake. My Bloody Valentine 3D actually got better reviews than the first movie. The story is your typical scary movie. Bunch of drunk people are having a party, they stumble upon a place where there were murders and somebody comes chasing them. Even though there is nothing original about My Bloody Valentine 3D it is a fun movie for anybody.

Top 5 Scary Movies of 2009: Drag Me to Hell
Sam Raimi returned to his Evil Dead roots by writing and directing Drag Me to Hell. In Drag Me to Hell a loan officer by the name of Christine denies a gypsy a loan. The gypsy then puts a curse on Christine and if the curse is not passed on to another person in three days then Christine will be dragged to hell. Drag Me to Hell is good for any movie fans and it is getting even better reviews than other recent scary classics like Shaun of the Dead and 28 Days Later.
