Top 5 Ladybug Themed Party Favor Ideas for Children

Ladybugs, Party Favor Ideas, Pom Poms

Are you planning a ladybug themed birthday party for your daughter? If so, I have a few ladybug party favor suggestions that I would like to make. Here they are:

Ladybug Bubbles

When it comes to ladybug themed party favors, ladybug bubbles are definitely worthy of consideration. They are inexpensive and look great. Based on my experience, 24 bottles of ladybug bubbles tend to sell for $8. If you can’t find ladybug bubbles through a party supply shop, you can also very easily make your own.

All you’ll need are red bottles of bubbles (48 bottles for $9), a black permanent marker ($2), black pom poms (100 pieces for $5), black pipe cleaners (25 pieces for $2) and a bag of google eyes (500 eyes for $11). Most of those items are available for purchase through craft stores and discount school supply shops.

Once you’ve gathered all your supplies together, simply affix a pair of google eyes and pipe cleaner antennas to each pom pom. Afterward, glue the pom poms to the tops of the bubble bottles. Then use the permanent marker to add ladybug spots to the rest of the bottle.

Ladybug Pom Poms

Do you prefer a party favor that can double as a party activity? If so, you may want to consider giving the children all they need to make pom pom ladybugs. In order to make pom pom ladybugs, you’ll need three inch red pom poms for the ladybug’s body (four for $3) and two inch pom poms for the ladybug’s head (15 pieces for $2). You’ll also need black pipe cleaners for the ladybug’s antennas, press on eyes and black dot stickers to decorate her body (1008 pieces for $7).

Depending on the ages of the party guests, you may want to buy a box of Velcro tabs as well. The Velcro tabs ($20 per roll) may be used to attach the ladybug’s head to her body. If the kids are old enough, you could also opt to let them build their ladybugs using a hot or cold glue gun.

Ladybug Candy

Are you in the mood for an edible, ladybug party favor? There are a lot of options at your disposal. You could opt to make marzipan ladybugs, ladybug suckers or ladybug chocolate pops. Another option is to place a bunch of red and black candies inside a ladybug clad cello bag. Ladybug candy molds are traditionally available through restaurant supply stores for $2. Ladybug cello bags and boxes are usually available for purchase through specialty paper shops or party supply shops for less than $1 apiece.

Ladybug Pins

Homemade, wooden ladybug pins are also worth consideration. I have made the pins many times myself and find it to be a quick, easy and enjoyable task. In order to make the ladybug pins, you’ll need ladybug cut outs (wooden), silver pin backings, a paint brush, googly eyes and a few jars of acrylic paints. I’d also suggest picking up a spray can of high gloss enamel as it tends to give the finished product a nice sheen.

Wooden ladybug cut outs are available through craft stores and specialty wood shops for less than $1 apiece. The silver pin backs are available through craft and jewelry making supply shops. A 40 piece bag of silver pin backs will generally cost you less than $1.

Simply paint your ladybug cut outs and spray them with the high gloss enamel. Once the cutouts are dry, you can go ahead and attach the pin backings and google eyes with glue. That’s all there is to it.

Ladybug Antennas

Ladybug antennas would make an excellent party favor as well. You may opt to purchase ready-made antennas ($2 each) or make your own. I’d suggest that you make your own ladybug antennas. In order to do so, you’ll need Styrofoam balls (black), black pipe cleaners and blank headbands (black). To construct the headbands, insert one Styrofoam ball onto each pipe cleaner and attach the pipe cleaners to the headbands. All three items may be purchased through major craft stores.
