OK, so you need a dehumidifier and with the trying economic times you’re looking for the most cost efficient products out there. That’s understandable and its also a great thing you’ve ran across my article as it will tell you about 5 of the cheapest dehumidifiers out there. Now I’m not talking about junk either, I’m talking about cheap quality dehumidifiers.

This dehumidifier is perfect if you are looking for something to move occasionally from room to room. Why? Because it comes with casters on it and is really not that heavy. Only 48 lbs. It will dehumidify up to 70 pints a day which isn’t too bad. However the storage pan only holds 17 pints so you will have to change it at least 4-6 times a day. Don’t worry though as an indicator light will let you know when it is full so there will be no overflow problem. Got a nearby drain you can use? Excellent as it does come with a hookup where you can set it up to go out a nearby drain. The latter option will also allow you to keep your unit on non-stop if you want. This dehumidifier has full function controls and can operate on two fan speeds. Overall its very efficient and only cost between $190-$230 depending on where you purchase it at. Best place would probably be Abt.com but you can always find it at your local Wal-Mart and Home Depot stores.
HAIER 45 Pint Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier is another one of those easy to move units. However, unlike the Frigidaire one this one comes with many more features including Energy Star. What’s Energy Star? Glad you asked. Its a feature on the dehumidifier that will allow your unit to stay efficient while also saving you money. Other features are its automatic shut off control, automatic defrost feature, and then the pan full indicator light. All controls are mechanical. This dehumidifier also comes with a 3 ft.hose that will allow you to set up automatic drain. Overall this product is by far the best especially if you are just looking to remove the humid air from one room. This product can be had for $160 over on InnovationsShowroom.com.
Alen Energy Star 74 Pint Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier is perfect for bathrooms, large rooms, and even basements. Its also an idea unit for people with breathing problems especially in the summer time. It really gets the job done. Like the HAIER dehumidifier this one also has the Energy Star feature. The other features include automatic shut off, full indicator light, continuous set or user set, plus much more. You can set the temperature between a frigid 41 degrees and a steamy 89 degrees. And of course you can set the humidity levels between 35% and 80%. As I said this product gets the job done and while it may be a tad bit more than the others, it still qualifies as cheap. This dehumidifier is only $249.00 and can be had a Wal-Mart, Lowe’s, or online at Air-N-Water.com.
Danby 40 Pint Portable Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier is made by Danby, who is one of the largest household appliance companies in North America. This unit has two things I really like which are the Energy Star feature and the fact that it is ultra quiet. Its only built for small rooms but it also can be used for larger rooms that aren’t too humid. Comes with electronic controls and like most cheap dehumidifiers has two fan speeds. Also comes with an automatic defrost feature which allows your unit to heat up to prevent ice build up. The best place to get this at is ElegantAppliance.com which sells this item for $189. Most local stores and other online ones will charge around $230 or more.
GE Gray 30 Pint Dehumidifier:
Like the above dehumidifier this one is also great for small rooms. It comes with everything you could want. Energy Star? Check. Auto Defrost? Check. Automatic Controls? Check. Auto Shut Off? Check. The removable bucket only allows for a 9.5 pints, but like most of the ones listed here you can set it up for automatic draining purposes if needed. Best part about this product is that it comes with 3 fan speeds and a washable air filter. Its so small and the vent on top allows you to put it in a corner and just let it do its job. Price is between $140-$150 and is well worth every penny. You can pretty much find this unit at any store but you may have to ordered online at Abt.com as most places only keep a limited amount of these in stock.
