Top 10 Songs by Phil Collins

Best Songs for Summer, Phil Collins, Top 10 Political Rock Songs

My top 10 songs by Phil Collins include humorous and scintillating selections. These top 10 songs by Phil Collins are in no particular order. The artist’s album “No Jacket Required” contains most of my top 10 songs by Phil Collins. As you ponder my list, think of your favorites by this singer who’s been successful in both a group and as a solo artist. And to let you know right off the bat, “In The Air Tonight” isn’t one of my favorite tunes. I’ve never cared for it.

Top 10 Songs By Phil Collins Selection Number 1: Sussudio, from No Jacket Required

I certainly can’t resist this fast-paced tune that topped the charts in 1985. Yet I’ve always wondered what the heck the term “Sussudio” means, so I went to Wikipedia and found the answer here. Why, it was just an improvised lyric that came out of the artist’s mouth, and he couldn’t find any “regular” word to better replace it with, and the rest became history, as fans of this song are happily stuck with singing this word!

Top 10 Songs By Phil Collins Selection Number 2: Who Said I Would? — From No Jacket Required

I find this to be the most humorous of my top ten songs by Phil Collins. It sounds as if some robot is helping Phil Collins to sing the refrain, and not only that, but I love the hurried, dance-like beat of the tune throughout.

Top 10 Songs By Phil Collins Selection Number 3: Inside Out, from No Jacket Required

While this is a tune that sings about utter frustration by the expectations of others, it still has a poetic pleasantness to it, even though the refrain is very emphatic and in your face! This song wasn’t released as a single from No Jacket Required, but once again this song proves that many unreleased songs from albums are often the best ones.

Top 10 Songs By Phil Collins Selection Number 4: I Don’t Wanna Know, from No Jacket Required

Because of the intensity and quick pace with which Phil Collins sings so many of his songs, I’m a real fan of his. This is another quality selection from No Jacket Required which has those elements, and one I often think about; and thus, it’s one of my top 10 songs by Phil Collins.

Top 10 Songs By Phil Collins Selection Number 5: Easy Lover (Duet with Philip Bailey), first appearing on Bailey’s album Chinese Wall

This is one of my top 10 songs by Phil Collins because it’s so scintillating as he croons with a member of Earth, Wind & Fire! It’s also a fun music video to watch, as the two are shown getting ready for a performance. When a song is really great, one doesn’t mind seeing it or its music video play over and over again, as it did on MTV during my late teenage years.

Top 10 Songs By Phil Collins Selection Number 6: Another Day In Paradise, from “…But Seriously”

I like many songs about people who are downtrodden and disenfranchised. In this personal top 10 songs by Phil Collins selection, he sings with an urgency about a homeless and destitute woman. Whenever I see such people, this tune often comes to my mind.

Top 10 Songs By Phil Collins Selection Number 7: I Cannot Believe It’s True, from Hello, I Must Be Going!

The jazzy, pop symphonic sound of this top 10 songs by Phil Collins selection has always been a joy to listen to for me. Even though he sings about a negative subject matter (being used in a relationship), he sounds so joyful as he sings it out, though the saxophone play towards the end of this tune is the only thing that really rings sad.

Top 10 Songs By Phil Collins Selection Number 8: It Don’t Matter To Me, from Hello, I Must Be Going!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard this song on the radio, for it’s another one of those gems you have to find by listening to the whole album. Collins’ fast-paced rendition with some orchestra-like back up really is captivating in this song, especially with the quickness he spews out some of the lyrics. When I’m feeling apathetic, I often think of this top 10 songs by Phil Collins selection.

Top 10 Songs By Phil Collins Selection Number 9: Something Happened On The Way To Heaven, from “…But Seriously”

This Top 5 hit from 1990 is definitely one of my favorite songs by the artist because he can take a subject matter that’s not pleasant (a pleading attempt at reconciliation) and make it sound bearable. According to Phil Collins’ discography here, this song comes from an album that’s sold some 20 million copies worldwide, which obviously has helped the artist make his own materialistic heaven on earth!

Top 10 Songs By Phil Collins Selection Number 10: Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now), from the movie soundtrack of the same name

I love the way Phil Collins sings his first solo Number 1 hit in the USA via such passion and yearning. There are many great songs that come from movies which I’ve never seen nor have the desire to see, such as with this particular film. This song also makes my personal top 10 classic rock and pop movie theme songs list. You can read that article here
